38: "goodbye"

Kao woke up without Earth by his side. War was next to him playing with some toys and watching cartoons.

"Where is Earth?" -Kao asked him.

"He lweft. He said he will be bwack" -War said.

"Are you hungry?" -Kao said sitting next to War on the floor.

"Earth made me bweakfast. He left you some" -War said smiling.

Kao stood up and saw his breakfast on the table. He was surprised because Earth didn't know how to cook but he tried to cook for them. He saw a note next to it:

"I had to go but I'll see you guys later. I love you" -the note said. Kao smiled and sat down to have his burnt breakfast.

Earth arrived to the hospital but Tay was still sleeping. There was a knock on the door and Dr. Beam entered.

"Good morning" -Earth said.

"Good morning. He will be waking up soon. I need to talk to you" -Dr. Beam said. Earth nodded.

They walked to Dr. Beam's office and Pha joined them.

"Tay isn't stable enough to make his decisions anymore. You have that responsibility since you are his husband and only family" -Pha said. Earth was worried and concerned about the big responsibility.

"You decide if he has the surgery or not" -Dr. Beam said making Earth's eyes widened. Earth didn't know what to say. He just stood up and walked back to the hospital room.

Tay woke up an hour later. Earth was sitting next to him thinking of what he would do.

"Ugh. I want to go home" -Tay said realizing where he was.

"You had a seizure" -Earth said.

Tay was silent.

"You know how scary that was? Tay you need the surgery." -Earth said standing up and looking at him.

"I don't want it" -Tay said.

"You will die!" -Earth

"I know" -Tay said without worry and being serious. Earth couldn't believe what he just heard.

"What is wrong with you?" -Earth said. He walked back to sit down. He covered his face with his hands and started crying.

"Come here" -Tay said sitting down carefully.

"Come here Earth" -Tay said holding out his hand for Earth to join him.

Earth stood up and went to Tay. Tay grabbed him by the waist and hugged him. Earth gave him a genuine hug.

"I know you don't understand. I don't want the surgery. We don't even know if that surgery will work. Hey" -Tay made Earth look at him by holding his face.

"Its ok. You'll be fine. Everything will be fine. Please don't make me have the surgery. I don't want it Earth" -Tay said. He knew it will come a point where Earth had to decide if he had surgery or not.

"Why? This may help you" -Earth said with teary eyes and breaking voice.

"I don't want to die on that operating room like my mom. I want to be home with you" -Tay said. He knew he was getting sicker and sicker. Tay's mother died while having surgery. Tay was a teenage boy and remembers how his mother didn't want surgery but she was in no condition of making that decision on her own so Dr. Beam made it for her.

"You don't know if you will die while in surgery, Tay. Your mother was really sick and was already at her last moments. You still have time" -Earth said.
