Levi watches the sad smile appear on your face and he forces a blank stare onto his expression. He hates how he can physically see every wall that you had put down just for him build itself back up, but he doesn't regret his decision. He broke your heart on purpose but he did it to save you from an even greater heartbreak that would come in the future if you guys had continued down this path.

He had always done what he was told, what was necessary to protect others, to protect his country, and to protect his soldiers. The one time he had been selfish was when he had allowed himself to fall for you. When he had deluded himself into believing that it would be ok if he could steal kisses with you at night and hand you over to Eren during the day. But he wasn't going to be selfish any longer.

"We have to see Hange today," You remind him as you turn your back to him. Leave it to you to go through such an embarrassing moment and just block it out as if it had never even happened. Whether Levi had feelings for you or not, he had made his intentions clear. You still had business to attend to.

"We can go whenever you want," He suggests and he watches you turn on your heel and open the door for yourself. He follows at his usual distance and is lost in his own thoughts when he notices that you stop. His reflexes are the only thing that stops him from bumping into your back and it's the first time that he had been so distracted from his job to the point where he wasn't even aware of his surroundings.

"Well, well, well," Zeke teases blocking your path to Hange, "What's wrong with this awkward atmosphere?"

You roll your eyes at him, everyone knew that the crown Prince was required to attend all council meetings and his smug attitude had definitely meant that he had voted on your wedding date being set as early as possible. Eren wasn't required to attend if he didn't want to and based on his reaction, he definitely hadn't attended the last meeting.

"You fucking cunt, how could you do that to your own brother?" You growl at him. You were in no mood to play Zeke's little games, you just wanted to see Hange and move on with your life.

Zeke scoffs, "What a brother he is, fucking my wife almost every night behind my back and playing me for a fool."

Your eyes narrow at Zeke's honesty. There's a pinch of vulnerability in his words and you could tell he really was hurt by his brother's actions. Throughout your time at the castle, you had regarded that although Zeke's relationship was strained with both the King and the Queen, he was actually quite close to his little brother. Sasha had even told you a few stories of how they had gotten up to a bunch of mischief with both Armin and Mikasa when they were younger. How she would see them running and laughing on the castle grounds as she helped her mother prepare food in the kitchen for the royals.

"So you did this out of jealousy?"

He gives a dry laugh, "Jealousy? I couldn't give a flying rat's ass if it was a dog fucking Historia every night. As long as she doesn't get caught and ruin my name and she lets me cum in her once a week so that she can get pregnant, I'm all good. But just like you, I do have a thing about loyalty, and Eren committed the worst act of treason the moment he lied to my fucking face."

It's your turn to laugh at him, "So you're doing this out of pride then? You knew that no one was in any particular rush with our wedding, we could've had a whole year if we wanted. But you pushed the date up because your little brother was getting fucked more times a week than you?" You continue laughing as tears well up in your eyes. Truly at this point, you didn't care about Zeke and his childish motivations. Why he did what he did, wasn't going to change the fact that it had already been decided. But you still had your job of investigating who had motivations for wanting the king dead and he was a prime suspect on your list.
