You're in the carriage on one of your weekly dates with Eren on your way to a mysterious location. Across from you Eren fiddles nervously with his fingers and the sight drags your attention away from Vyrena's streets.
"Nervous?" You question and he looks at you confused before understanding what made you ask.
Immediately he separates his fingers before responding, "Just thinking about how close our wedding is."
"Uh-oh getting cold feet?"
He chuckles, "Luke-warm feet. I just... I really like how we are right now Y/N. If you would've told me your first week in the castle that I could genuinely say that I really enjoy spending time with you I probably would've laughed in your face but it's true now. And I don't want marriage to put this pressure on us to suddenly change our dynamic. We both know... what we'll have to do but I don't want anything to turn awk-"
"Whoa, Eren you're overthinking. I get you and I feel the same way, but let's just cross that bridge when we get there, ok?"
He rubs his neck nervously, "Yeah, that's what I like about you. You calm me down."
Mikasa coughs from beside him and Levi shuffles uncomfortably in his seat.
You smile at him regardless, "What are fiancés for, right?"
Once you guys arrive at the mysterious location Eren holds his hand out for you to step out of the carriage. You graciously accept it and take in the cool air before you.
The familiar smell of salt water overwhelms you and immediately you freeze. It takes everything within you to walk to the other side of the carriage and see the miles and miles of sand before you.
"Surprise," Eren smiles, "It's the beach! Yesterday when Jean talked about Asiko's beaches it reminded me that you probably missed that part of home since we barely have any here in Vyr-"
Although you guys are in public, when Levi sees your face he places a soft hand onto your back and rubs lightly where no one can see. He knows it's not Eren's fault at all, in fact even he can admit that his reason for bringing you here was nice but Levi knew the bad memories you associated with the beach.
Eren stops talking when he notices your expression as well, "You don't like it." He states in obvious disappointment, "I know it probably doesn't compare to what you guys have in Asiko but it's our private one so you won't have to worry about any crowds and I thought you would like-"
You stop him by forcing a fake smile on to your face, "No, it's beautiful. Thank you for bringing me here." Despite the fear that the ocean puts in your heart, the thoughtfulness of Eren makes the disappointment in his voice even more overwhelming than your fears. Levi drops his hand from the small of your back at your words and he inaudibly sighs at your lie.
Eren grabs your hand and begins to lead you to the coast of Vyrena. Once you're about to reach where the ocean and sand meet Eren begins taking off his shoes. He carries his shoes in his left hand and looks at you expectantly and you do the same. He outstretches his hand and when an eyebrow on your face raises in confusion he sighs before taking your shoes in his free hand as well.
Together with your guards a comfortable distance behind you, you begin to walk in silence. You had made sure that Eren was the closest to the ocean while you were safely away from the unforgiving water. Eren observes your quiet demeanor, the way you slightly jump when the tide passes him and touches your feet and the goosebumps on your skin.
"Y/N, I'm going to ask you a question and I don't want you to lie for my sake. You're afraid of the ocean aren't you?" He stops walking and turns to you. His green eyes search for sincerity in yours as you answer.
