FELIX cried himself to sleep the night before. Listening to Chan and Changbin's words, he didn't know if he could still be with Chan without facing any consequences.

When Chan had first confessed his feelings to him, Felix knew what he was getting himself into. He was aware of the penalty and the banishment.

But God did he love Chan so much, Felix just chose to live in the moment. He decided to push the thoughts of getting caught to the back of his head when he expressed his feelings for Chan that day.

As of now, Felix was steering a pot of soup, absentmindedly looking down at the floor as if in a trance. He was tired. Tired from all the tears he shed the night before.

Felix was scared. Scared that sooner or later, he was going to have to speak to Chan about this. Scared that their love would be short-lived.

"Felix," a voice calls out, interrupting his train of thought.

"Prince Lee?" Felix asks in a confused tone. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"My brother hasn't come out of his room the whole day," Minho tells the other. "Do you perhaps know why he is acting this way? Did you both fight?"

Well, in fact, Felix knew exactly why Chan was acting this way. Telling Minho about this would just create unnecessary attention.

"No, I don't know what's wrong," Felix lied effortlessly. A tinge of guilt still remained in his heart.

"Can you do me a favour and go talk to him for me?" Minho pleads. "Maybe he'll listen if it's you."

I doubt that, Felix thought. Chan would most likely send him away or he would refuse to attend his door.

"I'll try," Felix assures the older. They say their goodbyes, leaving the commoner to head for Chan's room.

Once he reaches the prince's quarters, Felix contemplates if he should knock or call out for Chan.

Ugh, this is so frustrating, he thought.

The door opens before Felix could even think of what to do. He is met with Chan's soft brown eyes staring right into his own orbs.

"C-Channie- I-" Felix stutters, not knowing how to start the conversation.

"Felix?" Chan asks, seemingly confused at the boy's presence. The prince didn't fail to notice Felix's tired eyes and the dried tear tracks on his cheeks.

Felix, on the other hand, felt his heart pain a little at the mention of his name. It was always 'love', 'darling' or 'sweetheart', even 'Lix' but never 'Felix'.

"I have somewhere to be," Chan says monotonously. "So if you'll excuse me."

Felix steps aside slowly as Chan walks outside, closing the door behind him.

"Can we talk?" Felix exclaims, getting Chan's attention as the prince slowly turns around to look at him. "Please?"

"Can it wait? I've got to accompany Princess Changmi to supper," Chan says without a hint of hesitation, making Felix hold back his tears.

"Y-Yes, we can talk later."

"Okay," Chan replies. "I'll meet you at the porch after supper and, be there."

"Okay."

...

CHAN was heading to the porch. To say supper was a disaster was an understatement.

It took all inside of Chan to not just shove bread into Changbin's mouth to stop him from talking. While Changmi tried to make small talk with the prince but Chan was least bothered.

Felix was the only person roaming his mind. Had he been too rude to the younger earlier? Did he go overboard? They were still lovers after all.

Perhaps, Chan would apologize to Felix when they meet at the porch later. They would and have a nice, long talk about whatever was bothering him.

What Chan didn't know was why it looked like Felix had been crying. There was no possibility he knew of the situation, right?

I'll just ask him about it, Chan thought.

Chan makes a swift turn as he enters the porch. He observes Felix already sitting, staring off into nowhere.

"Lix."

Felix turns around with wide eyes but smiles as he realises what Chan addressed him by.

"Channie."

Chan takes a seat beside Felix and the prince swears the atmosphere was just like the day they first met. The night of the masquerade ball.

"I'm sorry for earlier," Chan speaks first, not able to tolerate the awkward silence. "I didn't mean to seem rude."

"It's alright," Felix answers flashing Chan one of his signature smiles.

"Were you crying?" Chan asks suddenly making Felix fiddle with his fingers nervously. He decided that it was off no point to lie to him.

"I overheard you and prince Changbin the other day," Felix replies, the memories of that day coming back to him.

"Oh," Chan shrugs his shoulders. "You heard everything?"

"Yes, and I know that was why you were acting that way to me earlier."

Chan sighs as he turns towards Felix and holds his hands gently. "So? What do you think we should do?"

Felix frowns at the thought of breaking apart from Chan. "I don't know. I still love you, Channie."

"And I love you too," Chan answers. "But Lixie, if we were ever caught, you'd have to watch me die and then you'd be banished."

"I know! I know!" Felix exclaims. "That's the last thing I want to see happen."

"Then we should do the only right thing, love," Chan says making Felix look at him with glossy eyes.

"Are we ending this, Channie? Our love?" Felix asks on the verge of tears.

"It's what's best, darling."
