"Mom, are you alright?" I speak quietly and creep into her room. She looks up and quickly wipes her cheek.

"I'm ok. I guess I just have never seen anyone play that guitar except for your father." She cries softly.

I ran to her side and sat down, "Mom. It's ok. Luke didn't want to intrude, I suggested that he played." She looked up in shock, then looked back at the ground.

She sighed, "He was playing so well, Luke was." I tried to smile at her, "It sounded just like your dad playing." I felt tears well up in my eyes.

We sat for 10 minutes in silence, I felt bad, not bad, awful for Luke. He was probably sitting in my room by himself thinking of a way to avoid me the rest of his life. My mom stood up and grabbed my hand. Without saying a word, she walked back to my room I followed closely behind.

When we peered in my room Luke was sitting on my bed. He jumped up and starting stumbling over his words, "Mrs. Anderson, I-I don't even know what to say, I should have never-"

"I'm sorry Luke, so much. I shouldn't have spoke so soon. I don't want you to feel upset about anything." Luke wiped his hands on his jeans, probably sweat related reasons. He flicked his eyes at me, I smiled slightly, "Let's just forget about this?" My mom spoke directly to Luke. He shook his head several times. He couldn't say anything else before my mom walked away and went downstairs.

"Luke, I'm sorry about that. My mom goes through small tantrums still about my dad."

Luke looks around, "Don't apologize, it's my fault. I understand."

I touch his arm, "You're great at the guitar." He smiled and looked at the ground.

"Thanks."

I sat down on my bed, "Maybe you can show me again sometime?" Luke plopped next to me, shaking the whole bed. He laughed.

"That sounds like a plan to me. How about after school sometime this week we skip the whole tutor thing and you come to my place for a couple hours?" My eyes got big and my heart pounded.

"Yeah totally." I tried to play it cool then got stupid again, "You sure we shouldn't study?"

Luke stood up, "Come on Chris, take some risks." He winked.

I stood up next to him, "Please don't call me that."

Luke moaned, "It's cute though." I felt myself blushing, but I didn't want to give him that pleasure. So when he looked at me I rolled my eyes instead.

He grabbed his book and we walked downstairs, smelling delicious home made cookies. Jake was already stuffing his face, "It's about time!" He said between swallowing. Mom smiled sweetly at us, like nothing had just happened. That is so like her, she always kept things bottled up inside her, until she finally explodes. Sounds a bit like me...

"I'm not sure I can eat much more!" Luke says as my mom shoves more cookies in his face.

I laughed at him, "You can just take some home with you!" He scrunched up his face and nodded ferociously, which made his hair jump. I couldn't help but smile. I can't believe Luke, Luke Hemmings, is in my house, of all people.

"Luke are staying to eat dinner with us?" My mom asked him as we finished up our milk and cookies. Luke took his phone out and looked at the time.

"You know, I'd love to but I think my parents may want me back home." He said and looked at me quickly. I was confused, he seemed to act strange.

"Oh that's fine! Next time." My mom said and walked out of the kitchen leaving us alone. We sat in silence for some time until he stood up, looking at his phone.

He put his hand on the back of his neck, "I think I should get going! My mom. Well she wants me home." He didn't look me in the eye, something was up.

"Oh yeah, I understand." We walked to the door.

He turned quickly and looked in the living room, "Thank you so much for lunch and everything Mrs. Anderson! See ya later Jake!" And with that we walked outside together.

Facing me he said, "Thanks for helping me study and letting me disrupt your house." He smirked.

"No problem, thanks for coming." He walked to his car and opened it, "See you later?" I waved, and shook my head.

He smiled and bit his lip, driving off.

Well that was strange.
