Christine's POV
"Honey, how was your day?" My mom bombarded me with this question right when I entered the door. I drop my books and bag. Before I responded all I could think of was Luke, for some reason. She stood there awaiting my response.
"Oh yeah, it was good." She stopped pestering me after that. I turn to Jake, who is 10 years old and already a heartthrob. "How was your day you little booger?" He laughed then took 15 minutes to explain everything that happened to him today. I took a breath when he was done, "Sounds great! I'm glad you had a good day."
I walk upstairs and go to my bedroom and relax on my bed. I glance over at the pictures on my wall. I see pictures of me and my best friend, Ashlee, who I left back home. Then I look over in a frame and see my dad. This isn't a picture I witnessed being taken. My dad died when I was 4, so I never really knew him. But I always felt him in my heart.
I must have taken a short nap because the sound of the telephone downstairs startled me awake. I stumbled off my bed and put sweats on. "Agh, finally!"
When I walk back down to the living room I hear my mom on the phone, "Oh yes she is a very smart girl, I am aware of this! Thank you so much for calling, I will tell her right away." When I turn the corner Jake is smiling at me and I stick my tongue out at him.
I clear my throat, "What was that about?" My mom stood up and walked towards me and hugged me.
"That was your teacher Mr. Miller, I think. He just went on and on about how fantastic you did on your evaluation! He has never seen a student get a perfect on it in his whole teaching career!" She was so happy for me.
I really wasn't too thrilled, but for her sake I smiled and clapped my hands, "That's awesome!"
Mom nodded, "He said he wanted to talk to you after school tomorrow!" I moaned, 'not again!' I thought. Mom walked to the kitchen, "It's about time to eat!"
Jake ran up next to me, "It's your turn to set the table!!"
He giggled as I said, "No sir it's yours!!" I tickle his feet.
Luke's POV
"Luke! I'm surprised you showed up." Was the first thing I heard when Chelsea opened the door for me.
I leaned down and kissed her cheek, "Why do you say that?" She gave me a 'you're an idiot' look.
"I don't know, maybe because you ignored me at school. Oh and you gave that new freshman nerd googly eyes!"
I laughed at her assumptions, "Chelsea, you've got to be kidding me! I haven't even talked to her!" I lie through my teeth, "Besides she is some random new girl, we get one of those every other week. You have nothing to worry about." She sighs and kisses me back. But somehow, I'm not amused by her lips.
She shrugs, "Ok! Well mom has made her famous Parmesan chicken!! Just for you!" She giggles in a very fake girly way.
"My favorite!" I say...also a lie.
After dinner I have to hurry home and start homework, what am I kidding I won't do it! I just lay on my bed and think of Chelsea and Christine. Only knowing Christine for less than 24 hours, I seem to like her more as a person. I sit up quickly, 'oh my! What am I thinking?!' I hop in the shower and try to forget all I have thought. Which is hard, with Christine's big smile in my mind.
