CHAPTER 37

I woke up extra early the following day. I am way too excited to sleep! I moved carefully and tried to check if Felix was still sleeping, turned out he still was, kaya naman maingat akong tumayo. Itinali ko ang buhok ko at dumiretso sa banyo upang maghilamos. I went downstairs afterwards for some coffee.

Sumilip ako sa bintana at nakita na walang may iilang taong nagjjajogging at naglalakad. Those are probably residents here, or baka naman nagbabakasyon lang din. I also saw three uniformed men standing outside the villa. 

I took my time preparing some toasts and coffee, just in case magising si Felix. Our dinner meeting with the politicians last night took longer than expected. The guys were enjoying each other's company dahil na rin sa usapang pulitika at business. I never expected Felix to be that interested with politics. I mean it's true that the mafia has a lot of connections with different politicians but he just didn't seem the political type. I thought it would be Marcus' area of expertise instead.

I checked the clock on the wall and it was only 08:00 in the morning. I thought about our plans for today. Sabi ni Felix ay papasyal kami ngayon sa San Juan. We did not really discuss the specifics but thinking about it, I think it's better kung sa hapon na lang kami pupunta. I think it's too early to do anything. At isa pa, I feel exposed kapag umaga. For some reason I feel like going out when it's dark is a much safer course.

"Good morning," ani Felix na bahagyang kinagulat ko. I was lost so deep in my thoughts!

"Morning!" sagot ko habang nagpupunas ng labi. 

"Enjoying yourself? Bakit hindi mo ako ginising?" tanong nito sa akin. He placed a soft kiss on my forehead. Ah, I could do this everyday!

I looked at him and saw that he didn't brush his hair yet. He was still wearing his white sando shirt and grey pajama pants.

"You slept later than me last night so I thought you needed more sleep. You've been working so hard the past days," I reasoned out. "I made toasts and coffee if you like," I added.

"Smells good," aniya. "What time would you like to go out later?" he asked. Now that's the question I wanted to hear!

"Hmm... I was actually thinking na baka pwedeng hapon na lang tayo pumunta? Like, before sunset? I just feel like it would be better. I heard the nicest places in San Juan won't open until that time anyway," I said sabay inom ng kape. 

"Good decision," aniya sabay ngisi. So what should we do today?" tanong nito.

We spent the whole day in the villa. We both jogged for over an hour, tapos kain sa restaurant and he proceeded with work habang ako naman ay natulog lang. Our day was very plain. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually liked this plain and boring day. 

I honestly think I'd like to stay here, like settle down here. I like it. Para bang malayong malayo sa lahat ng gulo. I can't believe this. I used to love parties! Like the loud noise, the never ending shots. And then now, I'm here loving the peace.

Ito na ata ang sinasabi nilang character development. Napangisi na lang ako sa sarili ko.

Would it be possible though? Maayos pa nga ba ang gulo są hidwaan ng pamilya ni Felix at Gregory? Achievable ba ang peaceful life if I get tied for good with Felix?

Just as planned, hapon na nang umalis kami ni Felix upang magpunta sa town proper. The place was truly alive at night! It brought me back sa mga araw na wala akong pinoproblema kundi ano ang isusuot ko at ano ang iinumin ko.

Felix and I were just two normal people bar hopping. Ang mga body guards na nagkalat ay nakablend in lang din. I feel somehow free. Halos hatinggabi na nang nakauwi kami ni Felix. We were both tipsy but not drunk! Sakto lang. I enjoyed it!

It was about 02:00 in the morning when a call woke us up. Felix lazily grabbed and answered his phone.

"Fuck!" mura nito na nakapagpagising sa amin.

"Looks like we're going home?" inaantok kong tanong dito.

"We'll leave early morning," he said.

Well... I guess time to wake up from this dream.
