Chapter 25

Ilang beses kong tinanong si Felix kung kinakailangan niyang pumunta sa site, but he kept insisting na hindi na kailangan dahil andoon na si Theo.

On the other hand, I felt worried for my parents. Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko at tinanong kung kumusta na sila. Not a minute had passed when my phone rang. It was my mom. It means they are fine, right?

"Mommy!"

"Maura! I was about to call you. We are fine, darling. What about you?" nagaalalang tanong nito.

I sighed. I felt relieved. "I'm fine, mom. Is dad with you?"

"Oh, he is! Good thing canceled ang dinner meeting niya tonight, otherwise I'd be dead because of worry!"

"I'm just glad you're both safe. Don't worry about me. I'm safe here," I murmured as I looked at Felix who as intently watching me. I reached for his hand and he eagerly grabbed me and let me bury myself against his chest.

"I wish you are with us, though. Hindi ata ako mapapanatag na hindi ka namin nababantayan. Especially now that Madriaga is back, and it is well known that Saavedra is tied with LeFevre," aniya. I get what my mom's saying. Hindi malabong pati ang pamilya ko ay puntiryahin ni Gregory Madriaga.

"I'm safe, mommy. And I feel very much protected."

"Oh!" tila ba gulat nitong sabi. "Are you with someone, Maura?" may halong pagaakusa na tanong nito. "Is it someone we know?"

I bit my lip. I had the urge of telling my mom that I'm with Felix, as in I'm with him -- not just for the night, but I'm really with him. Hindi ito ang tamang oras para sabihin ang tungkol sa aming dalawa. One day soon, I will tell them everything.

"We'll talk about this soon, okay, mom? What is important now is that you're safe."

I heard her sighed on the other line. "Be safe, too, Maura. We love you."

I smiled. "You too, mom and dad. I love you, too."

I felt Felix's arm wrapped around my figure as soon as I ended the call. His warmth embrace made me feel safe. I would never want to leave his side. I'll be damned for falling to a LeFevre, it would make me an easier target but I can't leave.

"What's the plan?" I murmured.

"A special team were already sent for an investigation," sagot nito.

"How sure are you that he is back?" hindi maikakaila sa tono ko ang takot na nararamdaman ko.

"Kimberly," simpleng sagot niya. I cringed just by the sound of her name. And how would she find out that Gregory Madriaga is back?! As far as I know hindi naman ganoon kalaki ang role niya.

"And she knows because...?"

Felix giggled. Why is he even giggling?! Wala naman nakakatawa.

"You can't set aside your jelousy, can you?" pag-aasar nito. I rolled my eyes at him before I decided not to overreact.

"Pupunta ka ba bukas sa site?" tanong ko upang maiba ang usapan.

"No need. Marcus will handle it."

"Is he mad?" nagaalalang tanong ko.

He chuckled. "No. This is just a minor event, Maura. I just need to tighten more the security and advance the on going investigation about Gregory."
