CHAPTER 38

Hindi pa sumisikat ang araw ay nagsimula na kaming maghanda ni Felix. We're leaving this beautiful and peaceful place, and going back to the chaotic city. Our stay here was short-lived. Gustuhin ko mang magtagal kami ay hindi pwede. Base sa tawag na natanggap ni Felix kagabi, mukhang kailangan talaga naming bumalik na.

"Why do we have to go back so soon?" I pouted as I lazily sat down at the edge of the bed while I helped him put his watch on.

"There are just a few things that I need to urgently act on," aniya. "I promise, when all of this is over, we'll go back here and we'll stay as long as you want," he promised as he caressed my face. I smiled back at him.

We had a quick breakfast with the governor and his wife before we left. It's amazing how powerful and how close their ties is, kasi ikaw ba naman, kaya mong pabangunin ng ganoon kaaga ang governor at asawa nito? Geez!

Unlike noong papunta kami dito, we left via the governor's private chopper instead. He offered it and hindi naman maikakaila na mas mabilis nga ang ganoon. I wouldn't mind if we drove, but I thought about our safety rin naman. Ayos na rin ito.

Since we traveled by air, naging sobrang bilis ng byahe. Bago pa man ako makababa ng tuluyan muka sa chopper, may sinenyasan na agad si Felix. Of course they were my body guards. Felix debriefed them really quick bago nito ibinaling sa akin ang atensyon.

"They will be with you at all times, Maura. Please don't argue with that," umpisa nito. I rolled my eyes at him. "They will drive you back to your house, your mom should be waiting for you there."

Kumunot ang noo ko rito. "My house? Hindi ako sasama sa 'yo?"

He shook his head. "Not yet, baby. May kailangan pa akong asikasuhin."

"But why don't I just go to your place? Pwede naman akong mag hintay doon," sabi ko rito.

"I'd rather have you at your house. Mas paniguradong ligtas ka doon. Your bodyguards will come with you, and then you have your parents' security with you as well," he reasoned out.

"But I'll be safe with you, too," pagpipilit ko rito.

He sighed. Hinawakan nito ang pisngi ko ng marahan. "I need to be assured that you will stay safe, Maura. I don't want to risk it. I'll see you when everything is settled."

I pouted at him. He kissed me softly on my cheeks. As if on cue, nagring ang cellphone ko. It was my mom kaya naman agad ko itong sinagot.

"Maura, hija," my mom greeted. "Are you back yet?"

"Yes, mom. Felix just told me that my body guards are dropping me of there sa bahay. Are you home?"

"Yes, halika na, anak. I missed you! Later on today maybe we should go shopping!" tila ba excited nitong sabi sa akin.

"Fine, mom. Okay, I gotta go now. I'll see you later!" I said before hanging up.

When I faced Felix, wala na ito sa kinatatayuan niya. I just saw him walking away with his guards. I raised my brows. Hindi man lang nag-bye?! Makakarinig siya sa 'kin mamaya!

Gaya ng napag-usapan, inihatid ako ng body guards ko sa aming mansion. My mom was at the dining room and was waiting for me. May mga nakahain na rin na pagkain sa lamesa since it's already lunch time.
