It was a sunny morning in Atlanta, the weather being a nice 60 degrees with a nice breeze. While most of Atlanta was gearing up for a lit Saturday night out in the town, parties, clubs, or preparing to have fun in general.
Sorai was inside having a really bad day while everything she knew crashed down around her.
Her mom came back from yet another trip that she had taken with her father last night, but this time she returned alone. Something was off and Sorai could tell because they always came back together. No matter how long the trip they left together and always retuned together. Despite them being MIA parents, they were a star couple in her eyes. Sorai may have really resented them at the moment, but she cherished her parents and their relationship.
So Sorai asked her mother where her father was and immediately wished she hadn't because Selena broke down right in front of Sorai. She was confused as she rushed to her mother's side, trying her best to hold her steady while she cried. It broke her heart to see her bubbly, head strong mother crying.
She was so confused but stayed by her side nonetheless.
Eventually Selena was able to pull herself together, taking a deep breathe and grabbing Sorai's hands in hers as they stared at each other.
Sorai was scared because she felt it in her gut that her mother was about to say something that would shake up her world completely.
And she did.
Selena came clean about everything. She told Sorai that she found out her father had been having an affair with his law firm partner Hilary for almost 3 years.
She explained that she suspected something during their last trip lasted longer then it was supposed too. So she went on this recent trip to see if it was true, just to see if her husband after 16 years really was stepping out on her, and he was. She caught him in the act, after he lied to her about having to meet up with Hilary late to prepare for their upcoming trial.
Selena went along with it, acting like she normally had when he left to go work with Hilary in the past.
They all stayed in the same hotel so it wasn't hard for her to catch him, the difficult part was that he lied about what floor she was on and what room she was in. So Selena had to play the wife card and get the real room information. She went to the room and took one of the maids she knew with her so she didn't have to knock and be spotted.
