Dear Diary,

Life has its way of being good to people or extremely bad. I guess you could say my life has been a mixture of both. I'm 13 years old, but I wouldn't be able to tell you what being a kid feels like. I've had to grow up and take care of myself the second I could understand this thing we call life. All I know is my first name Kiyana, it was given to me by my birth mom who gave me away the second I was born. At first it hurt me a lot growing up thinking I was unwanted, but as I got older I stopped caring. I had to learn to survive, not hold grudges against someone I wouldn't ever see again.

Recently I learned that I have other family, from a man I caught following me around and taking pictures over the past few days. My first initial thought was to be scared but after a few days I felt like if he wanted to hurt me he would have done so. I've always been brave, so I approached him. Which could've been so stupid but luckily it wasn't the case as I suspected. He was shocked to say the least, but after looking around to make sure we were alone he admitted to me that he was a retired detective, turned private investigator, hired to find me. His name was Billy.

He told me my biological father was looking for me. I didn't believe him but then he showed me a picture of him, and then a picture of her, my mother. It blew me away how much I looked like my mother.

I decided to bite and talked to him some more, even answering a couple of questions for him. He asked me a lot about myself and took notes, he really wanted to know what my life was like at the group home. I couldn't talk to him for long because Jillian would have a fit if she caught me talking to a stranger, but he reassured me I would be fine. He handed me a card with his information and told me to call him if I needed anything. I was curious as to what all of this meant, but all he did was smile and told me that my father would like to meet me. But only if I wanted him too. That was the last thing he said to me before leaving.
