Jefferson High School

Sorai was still pretty down about what was going on in her life, but she kept her head held high. She couldn't let what was going on stop her from living her life. Things were a little different waking up and seeing her mother every morning, sitting at the table drinking a coffee. She made sure to make Sorai eat breakfast, wished her a good day at school and kissed her forehead before sending her on her way.

Selena only let her miss one day of school to get herself together. She did not feel like it was healthy to stay in the house and sulk.

Sorai was really worried about her mother, because it felt like she was moving too fast with everything and not processing the fact she was about to get a divorce.

Kamari helped Rai realize the importance of processing her emotions, so she wanted to help her mother do the same. But she knew that would take a lot, especially since they had to try and build a mother-daughter bond before Sorai left for college in 8 months.

Right now Selena's main focus was looking for a new house since she already put their current house up for sale. Sorai didn't know the divorce process, but it seemed like the meeting Selena had with her lawyer and her dad and his lawyer went the way she wanted it too. He signed the papers, she told him what she wanted, and from there it was up. The little information that she did know was that her father agreed to pay a hefty amount of money for various things. She didn't care to ask what.

Sorai was dressed down completely at school, which occasionally gained her some shocked looks from various people. She didn't care though. She didn't feel like having a face full of makeup or a dressy fit. Her hair was in a slick ponytail, she had on black leggings, a red Nike hoodie, and a pair of air Jordan 11 breds.

She was entering a new chapter in her life, deciding to really start focusing on herself. She needed to get her mental, emotional, and spiritual health in order before she graduated. She was ready to figure out who she was, what she wanted, and how she would get it.

Figure out her purpose in life.

She spent too many years worried about how people saw her, but not anymore.

It was her lunch period now so she was walking into the lunchroom, preparing herself for the various questions her friends would ask her. Specifically her best friend. She instantly spotted Gabrielle's loud blue hair, seeing that she was sitting at their usual table with Jahlil and Kamari.

She took a deep breathe and walked over to them, catching the attention of Jahlil first who bumped Gabi and pointed in her direction. Gabrielles eyes lit up and she screamed jumping up from the table, running and wrapping her arms around her in a tight hug. Sorai smiled softly and hugged her back, letting Gabi rock them back and forth.

"Oh my god bestie I missed you sooo much. You left me out here to dry yesterday with these bitches you know I don't even like for real. I was so lonely and depressed without you. Please never leave me again." She rambled quickly, before pulling back to get a good look at Sorai. Her eyes immediately softened, seeing how different her friend looked that usual. Even natural, she was the baddest of the bad.

Everyone in Sorai's inner circle knew what was going on now, so thankfully she didn't need to explain anything further. She didn't even wanna think about it anymore.
