••••••Kamari "Mari"
>> Saturday
August 22nd, 2020It was now Saturday, the day of the party, and Kamari was surprisingly excited about getting to experience his first party. The previous day after talking to Sorai in school about hanging with more guys, he decided it would be a good idea. So he linked up with Cameron after school and he introduced him to his friends, who were all mostly on the football team. They invited Kamari to play with them at the park and he surprised them all by actually being pretty athletic.
Really he was just a quick learner.
Many people underestimated Kamari, but only due to their own assumptions of him. Just because he was in the books and didn't care about anything but his priorities, didn't mean he didn't do what a lot of regular teenage boys did.
He was shy, he wasn't boring.
While at the park somehow Cameron had the time to invite girls to come chill with them, and one of the girls just so happened to be Kayla. She had her eyes on Kamari the second she saw him, and he was a little shy but Cameron and the guys playfully teased him about it which made him get a little irritated, so he put his nervousness to the side and talked to her.
They spent a pretty decent time getting to know each other and she was flirting so much he eventually started flirting back. He wasn't the best, but he did what he felt was natural.
At the end of the night he got her number and they went their separate ways, continuing to talk and flirt. She made him promise to dance with her at the party.
Sorai's voice was in his head the whole time, reminding him to be himself and just go with the flow. He had tried texting her but she wasn't being active as normal, dry texting him, and eventually leaving him on seen. He felt something was off with her again, he just couldn't put his finger on it. He also didn't want to step on any toes so he didn't ask if she was okay, even though there is a little nagging voice in his head telling him too.
Sorai was his first friend, she really cared for him and helped him get to the point he is at. Without her he would still be in the back of the classrooms getting bullied, he never wanted to go back. He was never going back.
Now he was in the mall to link with Dj, Rai, Gabi, and some guy Gabi told them she was going to invite. If he recalled his name was Jahlil and he was on the basketball team.
He opened the groupchat Dj created and read that they were meeting in the Food Court at Chick-fil-A. Which he learned quickly that Dj loved to eat.
Kamari was excited to hang out with his friends today and go to the party with them later. Cameron friend's invited him to show up with them, but he politely turned it down because he wanted to experience his first party with Sorai, Dj, and Gabi.
Speaking of the party, Kamari's parents were shocked when he told them he wanted to go. He's been catching them both off guard left and right and while his mother was really suspicious and rightfully cautious about all her sons sudden changes, his father was super supportive, excited, and happy for him.
If anything he feels as though his father is lowkey living through him now. Back in high school his father used to be very popular, until he went to college and grew up quickly.
Walking into the food court Kamari instantly spotted many familiar faces. On a Saturday afternoon it was not a shocker to see a handful of Jefferson students at the mall. A few spotted him too and he waved back to a couple who waved at him, heading straight to Chick-fil-A.
