Matt laid on the couch, curled up in a blanket, on the last day of medicine from his therapist. It was supposed to help with the nausea, mood swings, and sweating. But, it made him tired. He had to call into work sick from not being able to stay awake. He couldn't even watch the kids.
Sam dropped her keys on the counter as she and the kids came in with Dale. They'd taken him for a morning walk to give Matt more time to sleep. "Daddy, you wanna play the switch?" Zeek asked, sitting on the L of the couch. Matt grabbed the remote and switched the TV quietly.
"Guys, go wash your hands first. I'm making breakfast," Sam called. The kids dispersed to their designated sinks, Zeek in the kitchen, Elora in the master bath, and Ellanie in the kids bath. Sam and Matt did that to make sure the kids wouldn't fight over who was going first. Sam popped her prenatal vitamins and moved her son out of the way.
"Mommy can I have blueberries in my pancakes?" Ellanie asked.
"No! I don't want blueberries!" Elora screamed, coming front the back.
"Girls, please," Matt called. The noise was too much for his head. The girls looked back to their father, then back to their mother.
"Mommy," Elora whined. Sam started to mix the pancakes and nodded.
"I heard you. Calm down," Sam said. "Get out of my kitchen. The stove is on. Go play!" She instructed. Matt watched his girls run to the back, while his son reclaimed his spot on the couch. "Did you hear?" Sam prompted. Matt glanced at her, then back to the split screen on the TV. "She and her boyfriend are pregnant,"
"Sam, don't do that,"
"What? I wasn't doing anything. I'm just telling you what Courtney told me," Sam mumbled, mixing the batter together. "Why are you being defensive? You worried?" The actress baited.
"Seriously? I had a-,"
"Vasectomy? Yeah, tell that to baby number four," Sam said pointing the whisk to her growing stomach. Through her tight fitting GymShark crop top and leggings, Sam's small bump was shining through. Matt sighed and continued to play with his son.
"I used a condom,"
"Both times?"
"Yeah,"
"How can you be so sure the second time? You were coked out of your mind, remember?" Sam smirked, turning her back to her husband. "Oh wait, you wouldn't." Matt scoffed, motioning to their child.
"It wasn't coke and you know that," Matt muttered.
"I don't know anything anymore," Sam replied. Sam had taken a back seat and with Matt on thin ice, the last thing he wanted to do was fight with Samantha.
10:37 AM
Sam and Gene sat in the master bedroom as Nick and Matt hung out in the living room. "He was squirming," Sam smirked, folding some of the kids clothes as she started to mentally sort out who was going where. Gene had come over to help her sister set out a floor plan. She wanted to get the girls moved into one room so they could move Zeek and get the nursery going.
"How long are you gonna make him sweat?" Gene asked, pulling the girls clothes into separate piles.
"Until I give birth. If I'm uncomfortable, he will be too," Sam smirked. "Do you see this?" Sam said, holding up her son's Spider-Man underwear. "I'm going to have to go back to diapers," she grumbled.
"Sucks. Nick and I decided not to give Avie a sibling until after the wedding. I want to make sure I look good in my dress," Gene cheered. Sam rolled her eyes.
"I'll be pregnant. I'll be very pregnant. So sorry," she said. "I think I'm going to pull Elora into Ellanie's room. It's bigger. Small, but bigger. Can you tell the guys to start clearing out Ellie's room? We can throw all of the loose toy's in Zeek's room for now," Sam instructed. Gene agreed, leaving Sam alone for a bit. Stripping out of her t-shirt, standing in her sports bra and shorts.
"Damn, bitch," Gene said, coming back in the room to see her sister's bump. "How far along are you? 14 weeks?" Sam looked down to her bump.
"10. I'm 10 weeks. But, I've also had three kids, asshole. This bump is definitely growing fast," Sam informed. Gene chuckled, flopping down on the bed.
"What if it's twins again? I would die!" Gene laughed.
"You would die? I would die! We definitely don't have room for that!" Sam said. She was still trying to figure out how they were going to put both of the girls' beds in the room. "I had the doctor check three times. I know for a fact that there is only one and if another pops out of nowhere I might spontaneously combust," The mom of three declared. She was prepared to get a full hysterectomy after this baby. She was done taking chances. And she knew her husband would agree.

In Elora's room, the guys started to put her toys away in the bins so they could take her bed apart. "Why don't you guys leave this bed in here for Zeekie and get the girls bunk beds?" Nick asked, throwing some dolls in a bin. Matt shrugged, making a note to bring that up to Sam.
"I'm nervous. Like I want this baby, but I'm scared it might make me anxious again. I panicked last time. I can't afford to panic again," Matt said. Nick nodded dropping on to his niece's bed, watching Matt clean.
"No, you can not. Your daughter's and son need you. And this baby needs you. Your wife definitely needs you. I need Gene and we only have one. And your kids are way more active than Avie," Nick said, knowing his daughter was legitimately on the couch picking at her sippy cup watching TV, while his nieces and nephew were playing in the parallel room. Avie was inherently lazy and Gene and Nick were cool with it.
"I don't even know how I can rebuild trust with Sam. She's got me on a tight leash. And she should. I just.. I don't know what to do. Do I like, shower her with gifts?" Matt asked.
"What did Sam ask of you?" Nick inquired, tossing a baby doll up in the air a few times to keep his attention.
"She wants me to go to therapy and get back on my meds, but-,"
"Stop. If she wanted you to take her out for a steak dinner, she would say that. Just do what she wants," Nick advised. "You're lucky you're getting a second chance," he reminded, lying back on the Minnie Mouse sheets, treating the American Girl Doll like a basketball.
