Sam and Gene sat on the couch wrapped in blankets while the kids played on the floor with Ginger. A movie played in the background, when Sam threw her legs under her. "I miss my kids. I kind of want us to spend the night here tonight. I want to know what it's going to be like going from here to the theater, since I have to be there tomorrow night," Sam mumbled. Gene dropped her phone in her lap with a short nod.
"Do it. Avie's bed is here and we have the air mattress. Go home and get the girls, and bring your air mattress when you come back. I'm making tacos for dinner," she said, dropping her head on Sam's shoulder.
"I might. The girls get out of their lessons at one. And Matt can just drive here afterwards. He's home with them. I'll tell him to come over here and bring the mattress and some clothes. I truly do not want to drive," Sam replied, remembering her husband wasn't working.
"Speaking of lessons. I was thinking about signing Avie up for cheer. She watched something on YouTube and now that's all she talks about," Gene mumbled, so Avie wouldn't hear her. Sam glanced at her niece who loved to stand on Nick's shoulders and do flips. That girl wasn't afraid of heights, falling, or being upside down.
On the other hand, Elora was the musically inclined one. She loved taking piano and singing. Ellanie was the dancer. She'd been in dance since she could walk. And Zeek did everything. He played pee wee football. And on the off season, he played basketball and baseball. The only thing all of Sam's kids had in common was learning how to swim.
"Do it! It'll be fun and there will be less boring times at home. I know once the school year starts back up, Zeek will be back in football, Elora is starting a kids theater group that I think starts in a few weeks, actually, and Ellanie will be start competition dance," Sam said, feeling a flutter of some sort come from her abdomen. "And then this little one and whatever they choose to do," she tacked on. Regime poked at her sisters stomach, while lying her head on Sam's shoulder.
"Are we thinking boy or girl?" Gene asked. Sam shrugged.
"At the beginning I was thinking boy because I was team boy, but now I don't know. I feel like I'm breaking out more, but my hair is still intact and growing so I have no idea. I kind of want a boy to get a balance in the house, but truly I just think it's a baby," Sam honestly answered, making Gene chuckle.
"Zeekie! Boy or girl?" She called, catching the attention of her nephew and daughter. The little boy, holding his cousin's truck, came over to his mother leaning and laying all over her and her sister.
"Umm, I think- I think mommy is making a boy. I want a little brother. Ella and Lo are mean to me," he said, running the car along Sam's bump.
"They're mean to you?" Sam asked, holding in her chuckle. The girls did not like that from May to September they were the same age as Zeek and they were very vocal about it.
"Yeah? And umm, Ella pushed me, so I pushed her back," he randomly added. Sam nodded, knowing he was about to go on a tangent.
"Oh okay. Goodbye. Go back to Avie," she dismissed. The five year old ran around the rectangular glass coffee table and sat back down next to the three year old.
"Okay, so I'm thinking about a dinosaur themed birthday for Avie," Gene started pulling up her Pinterest board. "As you know, her birthday is next month, so I'm thinking Dino-Four," she stated. Sam's eyebrows rose.
"Since when did Avie start liking dinosaurs?" Sam asked, clearly nothing around her niece as much as she thought she was. Gene shrugged.
"We took her to the museum like a week ago and she's been obsessed ever since," Regina informed. Sam nodded whispering an "okay".
