Feeling a pair of arms wrapped around her body, Y/N awakes from her deep sleep. She turns around to face Donghyuck who was still asleep. A small smile forms on her lips as she caresses his face softly with the pads of her fingers. Donghyuck's eyelids flicker open staring straight into her loving gaze.
"Morning, beautiful," he murmurs in his raspy morning voice. The girl looks away, "Morning." She moves her body closer to his, nuzzling her head in his chest. "I don't feel like doing anything today," she mutters into his chest.
"Should we lay in bed all day?" he suggests as he caresses her hair, earning a quick nod. "Are you feeling sick?" He pulls away trying to get a look at her face but she keeps her head down, not wanting for him to see her swollen eyes.
"No, I'm just tired," she makes up an excuse, "Tell me about yesterday, how did it go with your mom?"
A wide smile appears on his face again, "It was great." Y/N could hear the excitement in his voice as he told her about everything they did together. She was happy for him, of course, she was. But she couldn't help the weird feeling she felt in the pit of her stomach. Envy.
As he continued to tell her about his day, a few tears escaped her eyes. She bit her bottom lip to suppress any noises.
"But enough about me, what did you do after work? I expected to be greeted with a hug but you were already asleep," he chuckles. "Are you asleep again?"
Donghyuck knits his eyebrows together confused by his girlfriend's silence. He pulls away and lifts her head, her eyes were closed but she wasn't asleep. He notices her tear-stained cheeks and lightly brushes the pad of his thumb against her them.
"Y/N," he frowns as she keeps her eyes clenched shut, "Love, look at me. Please."
Y/N hesitantly opens her eyes, looking away from him. He holds her chin softly with his fingers and turns her head to him.
"What happened?" His voice is soft as he speaks to her. The girl swallows the lump in her throat only for more tears to spill forth like a waterfall.
Donghyuck quickly engulfs her into a tight hug, rubbing her back in circles. Y/N cries for the nth time, she sobs into his chest wetting the fabric that was his black t-shirt. Hiccups and sobs fill the room, alerting the woman outside as well.
Mrs. Lee's maternal instincts kick in and she hastily rushes to his son's room but refrains herself from entering. Space. The woman returns to the kitchen although she wanted to comfort the girl that wasn't her daughter yet felt like one.
In the room, Y/N tries to calm herself but to no avail. "I'm sorry," she apologizes, he shakes his head, hushing her.
"It's okay, love," he places a soft kiss on her forehead, "Cry for as long as you need. I'm here, always." His words of endearment warm her heart.
Eventually calming herself, Y/N wipes the tears on her cheeks. Donghyuck helping her, wiping her tears with his finger. The girl let out a small huff, a slight smile forming on her lips.
"Much better?" A delicate smile forms on his lips as he caresses her face. She nods.
. . .
The couple sits on the picnic blanket they brought with them. Donghyuck suggested that they should go out for a walk to clear their minds, and Y/N agreed, needing a change of scenery.
Although he hid it well, Donghyuck's mind still mulled over the reasons that caused Y/N to be in such anguish. He wanted to know but he also wanted to respect her and her privacy. She would tell him when she was ready, and he'd wait for as long as she needed.
Y/N closes her eyes letting the dark envelop her as she felt the wind blow past her face. She looks up at the sky, a single star smiled down at her and she talked to it.
Sunwoo. What do I do? Do I forgive them? Do I continue hating them? I'm confused..scared. Even though I was older, you were always braver. You always did the right thing. I miss you so much.
Looking back at Donghyuck, Y/N reaches for his hand that is resting on his knee and intertwines her fingers with his. The boy cranes his neck to look at her. She simply smiles and he replicates a smile back at her.
Heaving out a soft sigh, the girl looks at the vast ocean that flows in front of them. The roaring of the waves echoed as they hit the shore. The view was beautiful, the flock of seagulls that soared the sky was beautiful, the man that kept her company was beautiful, and she hated to ruin such beauty with all the misfortune in her life.
"I saw my parents..." Y/N breaks the silence, laying her head on Donghyuck's shoulder, "And I hate it. I hate that they came back."
The boy stays silent, listening to everything she had to say. With his free hand, he gently pats her back as she lets out everything she's been bottling up since last night.
"They can't just leave and then decide to show up again when they feel like it, it's not fair," she continues, taking a moment to swallow the lump that formed in her throat.
"I hate them so much, I really do. Because of them.." her voice cracks, "I lost Sunwoo. If they had just stayed, maybe he would still be here."
Donghyuck's eyes brim with tears as he recalls that day, he was there and he saw how she broke.
"I really don't know what to do," she whimpers lowering her head, "But even with all the blame I put on them, I can't hate them. Because after all, they're still my parents. And they were good ones before they decided to leave."
