"Nothing?" Y/N questions as Donghyuck throws his head back and pinches the bridge of his nose completely exhausted. "Let's stop for today, you did all you could."

"What time is it?" He asks.

The girl takes her phone from her back pocket and checks the time. "It is 11:49," she tells him and he widens his eyes.

"We missed the last bus!"

"Shit, what are we gonna do now?" She sighs running her hand through her hair in a frustrated manner.

"A taxi would be too expensive," he sighs. "We just have to find a cheap place to stay the night."

. . .

"We'll have two rooms," Donghyuck requests the hostel manager.

"One room," Y/N butts in. "We can't really afford a second room so just one room with two beds please."

"All the rooms with two beds are taken at the moment, would you still like only one room?"

"Of course this happens in a situation like this," Donghyuck thinks to himself.

"No-"

"We'll take it," Y/N hands him the money and takes the key before walking away in search of the room.

"Don't think of doing anything funny," the girl warns and Donghyuck lets out an offended gasp.

"I wasn't the one that chose one room with a single bed. I should be worried about you trying something on me," he says crossing his arms over his chest.

"As if, you're not my type," she says before unlocking the door.

"You're not my type either," he argues back as they both enter the small room.

Silence engulfs the teenagers as they take in the small room. A full-sized bed is placed in the middle of the room occupying most of the space.

"The room is much smaller than I expected,"
Y/N laughs nervously.

"I'll sleep on the floor," Donghyuck says, placing his backpack down.

"The floor is too cold, let's just share the bed," she says, laying as close as she can to the edge to leave as much space possible between the two. Donghyuck hesitates before joining her on the bed.

The two lay in silence, an awkward silence. Both stiff in their spots as they stare at the ceiling.

"Hyun must be lonely," Donghyuck mutters the first thing that comes to his mind to stop the never-ending awkwardness.

"Hyun? Your dog?" Y/N laughs.

"It's the first time I leave him alone for this long," he chuckles.

"I'm sure he's fine, your mom is there too isn't she?" she says and he nods.

Once again, silence.

"Have you seen your mom's death?" Y/N speaks up this time.

"Yeah," the boy sighs.

"Oh." She wanted to ask more but not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable she stayed quiet.

"I know you're still curious, just ask whatever you want. Anything is better than laying in silence," Donghyuck chuckles.

Y/N turns onto her side and looks at Donghyuck, "Do you ever feel guilty knowing all of this?"

"I don't know what to feel. I can barely take care of myself, how am I supposed to save other people's lives?" he sighs and turns to look at her, "I didn't ask to live like this."

"You've been through a lot," Y/N smiles, a consoling smile.

Donghyuck smiles back and places his hand over her cheek, caressing it softly. "Your eyes, they're beautiful."

His heart started to race, pounding against his chest. He leaned in closer and closer, the two find themselves just a few centimeters from touching lips. He stares into her eyes as if asking for permission to kiss her and she nods.
Donghyuck gently leans his head closer and kisses Y/N's warm lips.

The kiss was slow and soft, almost comforting it felt as the boy held her close to him ever so delicately with his hand just below her ear. She wrapped her arm around his waist, her fingers tightly gripping his black hoodie as she pulled him close until there was no more space left between them and she could feel his heartbeat.

Donghyuck pulls away at the lack of air. A shade of red spread across their faces as realization hit. Their feelings were more than evident and certainly mutual.

"Whatever happened to don't try anything on me," Y/N mutters, and the boy chuckles.

"Oh, you liked it," he grins at her flustered state. He holds her closer and they stay like that for the rest of the night, in each other's warm embrace. The only place that felt right.

. . .

"I had fun yesterday and today as well," Y/N smiled as they arrived at the front step of her house.

"I did so too," Donghyuck chuckled.

"Oh and-" the girl was about to say something but was cut off when her phone began to ring. "Hold on." She took a few steps away as she answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is this Jeon Y/N?" the person asked.

"Yes, it is her speaking."

"You are related to Jeon Sunwoo, am I correct?"

"Jeon Sunwoo? Yes, he is my brother," she turned to Donghyuck and smiled implying that she was hearing potentially good news.

"A body was found drowned by the Han River and it resembles the pictures on the flyers. To confirm that this body is his, please come to the mortuary located a few minutes from Han River."

Her hand dropped as the call ended. Y/N's smile died fast and tears had already started to blur her vision.

"Y/N?" Donghyuck called out as he noticed her change in emotion.

"D-Do you know where the mortuary is? The one near Han River?" Her breathing was heavy as she spoke. The boy just nodded realizing the situation.

It didn't take more than fifteen minutes before the two rushed into the mortuary. Y/N had still been hoping that it wasn't her brother. That it might've been a mistake and the guy just looked a bit similar.

"Do you want me to come in with you?" Donghyuck asked and she nodded. "Please." She was scared, scared be left alone in this cruel world.

The girl took a deep breath before walking inside the eerie place. It felt as if the air thickened, it felt rather uncomfortable to be stuck in a place that had dead bodies laying on tables only covered with a white cloth.

"It's not him,"  Y/N continued to convince herself as she neared the body. "It can't be."

Her hands were trembling as the morgue worker removed the cloth to reveal the dead bodies' face.
