It was him.

Y/N looked away as her stomach heaved, she placed a hand over her mouth to muffle the incoming sobs.

Donghyuck knew. Her reaction was all he needed to know that the body belonged to her brother.

She couldn't bring herself to look at him, but she knew she had to. She was his sister, his only family. She needed to bid farewell so he could rest in peace.

Taking a deep breath, Y/N turns around and approaches the body. Her hand fell softly on the stone-cold skin of his chest that does not rise or fall, and his heart that was once full of love was still.

In life, Sunwoo had a cheeky smile and loving eyes. In death, that smile and those eyes were nowhere to be recognized. His corpse did no justice to the wonderful person he was when alive.

Y/N's tears poured out from her eyes, they rained down onto her late brother's face as she held him close.

"Sunwoo," she whimpered his name as if calling for him would bring him back to life. "Why did you leave me?"

This was the utmost vulnerability she has ever shown. Even to herself, this amount of agony was never known until now.

Donghyuck could just watch her despair. He shed a few tears as Y/N's walls, the walls that helped her keep up a strong facade collapsed.

Though her heart breaks, she says goodbye. Her trembling lips kiss his head lightly and she runs her hand through his brown locks of hair. "I love you," her lips quiver as she bids farewell to her brother.

Y/N takes the white cloth and rests it back over her brother's body. Her fists are clenched at her sides as she walks out of the place.

"Will you be holding a funeral for him?" The worker asks and the girl just shakes her head, no.

"Would you like to go over the cremation cost?" He asks and once again Y/N could only bring herself to shake her head.

"You can talk about it with me," Donghyuck speaks up following the employee to a separate room.

. . .

"Do you want me to walk you home?" The boy asked.

Y/N forced a smile and shook her head, "I just want to be alone, thank you."

Donghyuck nodded and let her go on her own. Once she was out of sight, he started walking in the opposite direction towards his house.

His heart felt heavy as he walked, he couldn't stop thinking about her as he knew what it felt like to lose a loved one. He was reminded of that day as he watched her cry.

"Donghyuck, where is your father?" His mom yelled as she came bursting through the front door.

"Dad died," the seven-year-old boy cried as he pointed towards the kitchen in which his father laid lifeless.
