Ayame's pov

I walked towards the gates of Konoha. It had been three years since I've been there. I headed directly to the Hokage's office. I knocked on the door and waited for Shizune to open the door. "Sorry I'm late, I ran into some trouble during the mission." I said when the door was opened.

"Who are you?" Shizune asked me.

"Don't you remember me?" I questioned. I know that my hair had turned black - it was still grey on the bottom though - and I've grown a lot, but was I that unrecognisable? "Have I changed so much?"

Lady Tsunade stood up and walked over towards me. When she saw the scrolls I was wearing on my belt, she raised an eyebrow. Before I knew it, they had fallen on the ground and opened, revealing what I had sealed inside them. My old headband and my Akatsuki cloak. After three months, I could train in the hideout, and after a year, I was allowed to go on missions.

"I can explain..." I said, but Lady Tsunade already raised her fist to hit me. I dodged it - thanks to Hidan's speed training - and the door was ripped out of the doorpost. "You should probably fix that..." I muttered.

"What happened here?" I heard a familiar voice. Before I could turn around to look at the person, I was kicked by someone. I looked up and looked at Lee.

"Why the f*ck did you do that?!" I scolded. Again, I blame Hidan.

"You're an Akatsuki member!" Lee shouted at me.

"I wasn't wearing it, so you have no proof." I replied with a smirk. "I'm not a member."

"Who are you?!" Ino demanded to know.

"Guess." I replied. "If it isn't obvious already."

"How should I know?! What are you doing here?!" Ino replied.

"Tch, can't I even return to my own village? Have I become so unrecognisable?" I asked. I know my hair was now black and that I had grown a lot, but come on! My own father should be able to recognise me!

"Are you Ayame?" Shino asked me.

"Yes." I replied. "Thank you, Shino. Ironically, my own father doesn't even recognise me."

"Do you have proof?" Tenzou-sensei asked.

"Tch, enough." I replied before activating my Sharingan - which I now had in both eyes - turned around to reveal my curse mark and pointed at the bottom of my hair. "Enough for you?" I turned around to see them nodding. I let my hair hang loose over my left eye again before deactivating my Sharingan. "I'm sorry for worrying you, but I've become much stronger!" I said while hugging my dad. "I've been training with S-rank criminals, so..." I broke the hug.

"You did WHAT?!" dad replied. "But they're--"

"They're actually quite nice. It took me a while, but I got to know them. Not all of them, but most of them are nice." I replied. "Itachi is one of the nice ones."

"Isn't he...?" Sakura asked.

"The one who murdered his entire clan, including my mother? Sasuke's brother?" I finished her question for her. "Yes, he is. But he had a reason which I'm not allowed to tell you." I answered it. "Now if you excuse me, I'm going to clean this up, get some Ichiraku ramen and go home to sleep." I said before putting my cloak and headband in my scrolls again.

"Bye!" I said before poofing away.

When I arrived at Ichiraku, I saw Kazuki and Kazuo sitting there. "Long time no see, guys." I said while waving at them. They turned around to look at me with surprised looks at me.

Kazuo's pov

"Long time no see, guys." Kazuki and I heard a female voice. we turned around and looked at a girl of our age with black hair, one onyx eye visible and a pale skintone. She seemed really familiar.

"Ayame?!" Kazuki questioned. "Is that you?" She nodded and gave us a smile.

"It can't be..." I muttered. "Impossible..."

"Still, you're looking at the one and only Ayame Hatake." she said.

Kazuki stood up and gave her a hug. "Where have you been all those years?!" he exlaimed. "What have you been doing?!"

"Nothing special, training and living with a bunch of S-rank criminals..." she muttered.

"WHAT?!" Kazuki yelled at her, making Teuchi and his daughter look up. "But they're criminals!"

"Ssh." Ayame replied. "Not so loud! The ones I have been training with are actually really nice. Now may I please have a bowl of ramen?"

Teuchi nodded. "Of course! The same as usual?"

"How can you act so light over S-rank criminals?" I asked Ayame when she sat down.

"It took me quite a while, but I got to know them better. Once you have broken through their image, you see them the way they are." she replied. "That's how I experienced it. Anyways, what have you been up to?"

"Training and investigating the Akatsuki." I replied.

"I've trained medical ninjutsu with Lady Tsunade!" Kazuki said. "And working on my Kekkei Genkai with Kazuo and Tenzou-sensei!"

"Interesting, how about you, Kazuo?" Ayame reacted. "Have you been training anything else?"

"I've been training my force too. With Lady Tsunade."

"HEY! AYAME!" a voice yelled. It was Naruto's.

"What is it, Naruto?" Ayame asked.

"Fight me! I wanna see how much stronger you have gotten. You can't possibly have become stronger, I've been training with pervy sage for two and a half years and I've been training with Kakashi-sensei to develop a new technique!" Naruto replied.

"Naruto, I'm warning you, you shouldn't underestimate like this while you don't know what I'm capable of yet. And insulting is a bad idea too." Ayame replied calmly.

"I bet you can't even fight against Kabuto and win!" Naruto told her.

Her eyes narrowed. "Naruto..." she groaned. "You're so f*cking dead."

Kakashi's pov

When I walked past Ichiraku's, I saw Ayame almost choking Naruto (AN: like Deidara did to Tobi). "I warned you, you moron. About Kabuto, he's just a f*cking coward, okay?" she said before releasing Naruto.

"My youthful butterfly!" Gai yelled behind me before running towards Ayame to give her a hug. I told him that Ayame had returned and how she looked like.

Ayame's pov

"My youthful butterfly!" I heard Gai yell. I turned around, but before I could resist, I was thrown into a bone crushing hug.

"Gai, can you please release me? I was kicked by Lee because he thought I was an Akatsuki member and it hurts a lot!" I managed to say. Swearing in front of him didn't seem like a good idea to me. He would lecture me about it not being youthful. He released me and looked at me.

"I haven't seen you in three years, what have you been doing?" he asked.

"Training." I replied.

"With who?" Gai asked.

"The Akatsuki." I replied like it was the most normal thing in the world.

"That's good... wait WHAT?!" Gai reacted.

"Ask my dad about it, I don't feel like telling the whole story again." I told him before sitting down to enjoy my ramen.

"Ayame." I heard my dad say. "I want to see how strong you've become. How about putting it to the test tomorrow?"

"Sure, why not?" I replied.
