Ayame's pov

I had informed the elders of my return and luckily the foundation wasn't trying to kill me anymore. I was just walking through Konoha, when someone grabbed the back of my shirt. 'Who was that?' I thought.

"Ayame. I challenge you to a race." Lee told me. "Do you remember three years ago?"

Flashback

"Let's start our rivalry now!" Lee said. "The earlier we begin, the more matches we can do!"

I nodded. "Why not? I heard rivalry is a good thing."

Lee gave me a thumbs up. "That's settled then!"

I nodded again and shook his hand. "What will our first match be?"

End of flashback

I nodded. "Following into their footsteps huh?" I muttered. "Okay, where's the finishline?" Lee pointed at the mountain with the Hokage's heads. I nodded again. "No removing weights to be quicker." I said.
"No teleportation." Lee said.

"Deal." I said. Kazuki and Kyioe were walking past us, holding hands.

"Hey lovebirds! Can one of you count down for us?" Lee asked them.

Kazuki blushed. "You didn't have to point it out..." he muttered.

"It was already obvious to me." I told him. "You're really cute together."

"Thank you, Ayame!" Kyioe said. "Three... Two..." When she said one, Lee and I ran off. We both ran on the roofs and constructions, to be faster. We received a lot of strange looks from our friends and some jounin too.

We jumped over a construction zone, where Shikamaru and Chouji were having lunch. "Huh?" Shikamaru questioned, but I was too focussed on getting to the finishline earlier than Lee to reply.

"Hey Lee, getting tired?" I asked him.

"Not at all!" Lee replied.

We ran further and jumped over some more things. I threw a frying pan at Lee's head. "Hey!" he exclaimed. "Where did you get that?!"

"I found it before we ran off." I replied while shrugging. Lee threw a a frying pan and a spoon at me, but I caught the frying pan and made sure the spoon didn't hit me. "Nice throwing, Lee!" I said to taunt him. The rest of the way went by in silence. When we arrived at the finishline, it looked like a tie.

"Who won?!" Lee asked Gai.

Gai started to cry. "...Ayame won!" he exclaimed.

"That surely was a great challenge, Lee." I told Lee. "Why did you decide to do it now, out of all times?"

"Congratulations Ayame!" Lee said, holding a bunch of flowers. I didn't even bother to ask where he got them. "It was an honour to lose from the new Hokage, I hope we'll have more competitions soon."

"I'm looking forward to that." I told him with a smile on my face. I was hugged by Gai, who congratulated me on becoming Hokage.

"You'll make a great Hokage, my youthful butterfly!" he said.

"Can't... Breath..." I muttered and Gai let me go immediately. 'Oh man, I'll never be prepared for his hugs...' I thought.

Suddenly, two people walked towards us. "Ayame Hatake?" they asked.

"That's me." I said.

* * * * *
After our little race and the visit at the one who carves the Hokage's heads in the mountain, I had to meet up with the village elders and the fudeal lord. I first had to wait for them to call me inside, but I was called pretty quickly.

"Ayame Hatake, you can enter." I heard a voice and I entered the room. Everyone was staring at me, but I just stood there awkwardly.

"Ayame Hatake, I declare you the--" the fudeal lord said, but he stopped when it came to the Hokage part. "Should I call you the sixth or the seventh Hokage? Danzou never really became officially Hokage..."

There was an argument about it for a while, but the fudeal lord eventually decided with which one he should go. "Ayame Hatake, from now on, you're the--"

The door suddenly opened and I saw Gai standing in the door opening. "Gai-sensei?" I questioned.

"I've got some urgent news, Tsunade-sama has woken up!" Gai said.

"Send a message to all Hidden Village to inform them about this." one of the elders said. "Godaime Hokage is alive and well."

I nodded. "Can I go home now?" I asked. I really did want to go home and I was kinda glad I didn't have to make decisions about the upcoming war. I didn't have any experience on that subject at all."

"Ayame, my youthful butterfly, I'll treat you to that boat restaurant we went to last time."

"That sounds good, can I invite Kazuki too. That might mean Kyioe will be there too, though..." I said. "Yugure has already informed me about their relationship."

"Of course!" Gai replied happily. "Anyone else you would want to invite?"

I shrugged. "We'll see." I said. "Maybe we run into someone..."
