Ayame's pov

I got my first genin team when I was 26 and the oldest of my kids was four. I didn't let them pass, they didn't understand teamwork at all.

Half a year later, I got another team, but they had the same problem as the first one.

I made my way to the place where I was supposed to meet the third group of genin. When I entered the room, something fell on my head. I could have easily dodged it, but I didn't feel like it.

One of them, a boy with orange hair, laighed out loud, until a boy with dark blue hair hit him on the head, scolding him for his behaviour.

A girl with brown hair tried to stop the orange haired boy from attacking the blue haired boy. In the end, I was the one who stopped him. "My first impression of you, you're all idiots." I said. "Introductions on the roof." I told them before poofing away.

On the roof

The three genin sat down in front of me. "What do we need to tell?" the blue haired kid asked.

"Names, likes, dislikes, hobbies, dream for the future..." I muttered. "Stuff like that."

"Why don't you go first?" the girl asked.

I nodded. "My name is Ayame Hatake, I like and dislike things, I've got a lot of hobbies and I never really thought about my dream for the future." I said. All of them sweatdropped.

"Me, me, me!" the orange haired boy exclaimed before he introduced himself. "My name is Isamu Tachibana, I like dangos and training, I hate it when people tell me to grow up and call me annoying, my hobbies are training and hanging out with my friends and my dream for the future is to become the best Kazekage ever!"

'He's so much like Naruto when he was younger...' I thought.

"My name is Shakaku Sunachi. I like to learn new things and hear about famous ninja. I don't like it when people call me useless, my hobbies are reading and training and my dream for the future is to become a respected kunoichi." the girl said after I pointed at her.

"Last but not least." I said, pointing at the blue haired kid.

He nodded. "My name is Minoru Fukui. I like learning new jutsu. I don't like it when someone disturbes me while I'm reading. My hobbies are reading and training and my dream for the future is to be able to protect the ones I care about."

"Well, it's nice meeting you." I said. "We'll have a survival training tomorrow."

"More training?!" Isamu exclaimed. "But I want a mission!"

'Yup, exactly like Naruto...' I thought. "I need to test something. After that, I'll decide if you're worthy of becoming genin. Just saying, I've never passed any team before." I told them.

"We're your first team, are we?" Isamu asked.

"No, the two I had before failed the test." I replied bluntly. "Be at the training ground at 7 AM and don't eat your breakfast, you'll definitely puke if you do." I said before I poofed away.

Minoru's pov

I came home and was immediately greeted by my mother. "So, who's your sensei?" she asked.

"Ayame Hatake." I replied.

"Do you know more about her?" my mother asked. "Or did she only tell you her name?"

I shook my head. "All she told us her name, do you know more about her?"

"Look at her family name and tell me what you think." my mother replied.

"Is she family of the copy cat ninja, Kakashi Hatake?" I asked.

My mother nodded. "She's his daughter, and you could say they are very much alike."

"Ayame Hatake is your sensei?" I heard my father's voice. I nodded and my father turned to my mother. "Yuri-chan, you told me you were on a mission with her once."

"You know her?!" I exclaimed. "Tell me more!"

"Back when I was still a ninja of the Hidden Mist, I was sent on a huge mission with teams from the Leaf and a team from the Hidden Sand." she said.

Yuri ended up telling him all about the mission and about her encounter with her team in the Chunin exams. (Yup, this is Yuri Kawaguchi from 'I'm Kakashi's Daughter?!')

The next day

Shakaku's pov

The three of us waited for our sensei to show up. She told us to be here at 7 AM, but it was already 10 AM.

"Sorry I'm late, I'm afraid something slowed me down a bit." we heard her voice.

"NO EXCUSES! YOU'RE THREE HOURS LATE!" Isamu exclaimed.

"Well, let's get straight to the point." she said, pulling out two bells. "Take a bell from me. The one who doesn't get a bell will be sent back to the Academy."

"But, there are three of us and only two bells!" I exclaimed. "One of us will never be able to get a bell."

"That's right. It's up to you to decide what to do." she said. "You've got till 12 AM to get a bell and you'll have to come at me with the intent to kill."

"But--"

"Oh, and one more thing, you've gotta think about the purpose of the test, that's the only to figure it out. Start!" she said before she poofed away.

Midoru seemed to think deeply, so did I. Isamu was just busy looking for Ayame-sensei. "I think I've got it!" Midoru said. I got closer to him and he told me he thought this test was about teamwork.

"That would explain why she only had two bells..." I muttered. "But how are we going to get this through Isamu's thick skull? He's stubborn and he doesn't think things through."

"We'll first need to find him." Midoru said, before we started searching for him.

We found him after a while, trying to get a bell. We took the chance to study her fighting style. Isamu was sent flying into a tree next to us, and before he could attack her again, we pulled him into the bushes to tell him our foundings.

Ayame's pov

I was going easy on them, just because they were genin. Isamu could be skilled, but he needed to think things through. Before he could attack me again, he was pulled into the bushes by his teammates.

Before I knew it, the three of them appeared before me, standing ready to fight me. 'Finally, a team who understands the purpse of this test...'

In the end, they couldn't get a bell and they - Isamu in particular - were surprised to hear that they passed. Minoru smirked, obviously proud of himself. "You figured it out, didn't you?" I asked him.

He nodded. "My mother keeps telling me it's important..." he muttered.

"It is indeed." I replied before I told them why teamwork was so important. "We'll start our first mission tomorrow."

The four of us left the training ground, all going home. I could tell all three were relieved they passed and weren't sent back to the Academy.
