By the end of the year, I was used to my new role, had become great friends with everyone, and was, all things considered, pretty happy. I still had nightmares and would cut myself on my arm or on my thighs from time to time at night, but nobody except for me knew about it.

At the beginning of 2018 a huge spaceship landed on Earth and all of us, the Avengers, both official and unofficial like me, went right to it, to make sure it wasn't any harm. As we arrived at its landing place in Norway the rest of the Avengers went to happily greet Thor, the blonde guy with the big hammer who exited the ship first. I stood there silently as Thor explained what had happened to Asgard and how the people were actually important, not the place. That I completely agreed with. He finished by saying that once the people have settled in here in Norway, he "Has finally time to look around the East to find the goddess of protection, the daughter of Hela, his parents had talked about," to which Tony replied "Oh, about that, we found her and she's totally badass and could kick your ass if she wanted to, Point Break" "I probably could, thanks Tony, but I don't really want to" I added. He looked at Tony then at me then back at Tony and looked a bit stunned and confused, with a bit of shock mixed in as well. "Take your time, I'm right here and I can promise you that I am nothing like my mother and won't cause any harm," "I... Yeah, right, I just wasn't expecting you to be here and in full armor already and stuff, yeah," he said a bit awkwardly "You now probably want the key to Frigga's chest, the one she left you, don't you?" he smiled, looking for something in his pocket. "No, actually I made my own and already opened it," I replied, again shocking him, and pulled out my sword. "She wrote that this sword, my sword, is made of the same material as your hammer," I said while pointing at the hammer on the ground next to him "and you ought to tell me what that means." "Right yeah, so it's this really powerful space metal.." he started to explain and with a few sentences managed to make the origin of my sword clear to me. It was "the protectors' sword" as he called it "which is probably why mum left it to you, the goddess of protection". "The goddess of what?" came a voice from behind him. An Asgardian male, around my age by the looks of it, stepped closer. He had black hair and armor of black, gold, and green. His eyes were also green so it was like a full theme happening. But as soon as I looked into those eyes, I felt deja vu, I could've sworn I had seen them before. "Excuse me, have me met?" he asked me, which suggested he had the same problem. "I don't know," I replied. Then thor spoke again "Loki, this is Hela's daughter Cassandra, the goddess of protection. Cassandra.." "Just Cass, please, I guess we're related after all," "Right, Cass, this is Loki, my brother," Thor continued, only to get interrupted again, this time by Loki "Technically speaking I am adopted so I am not related to you so um, do I still call you Cass or do I address you as Cassandra the goddess of protection?" Thor rolled his eyes and gave up trying to continue introducing us. "You can still call me Cass, how am I to address you? Just Loki or do you want a long fancy name?" "Loki, the great god of mischief will be fine" he replied after which Thor rose his voice at him a bit "LOKI, come on now, let her get to know you a bit before you start to annoy the hell out of her" "Right, fine," Loki rolled his eyes "just Loki it is then." "Well, it's nice to meet you, Loki, although something about you seems extremely familiar, it feels like we've met before.." I started to tell him and looked at him. When I got caught in his eyes again it hit me. It was the boy who came to see me in the cell. I then looked at Thor, whose blue eyes I then also recognized. "I do know where I've seen you!" I said excitedly, only to confuse Loki who still couldn't quite remember, "and you too, Thor, we've met too". Now Thor was stunned as well. "Okay, Loki look at this!" I said and made a doll of ice, exactly like the one he had seen me make, and then made it burn and disappear the exact same way. I saw the recognition in his eyes. "It's you! The girl from the cell! Thor, it's the girl we used to go watch in the prison of the castle, the one we didn't know what she was there for!" "Oh, I guess I can see it," said Thor now that he was thinking about it "So what were you there for?" he asked. I sighed and my face dropped a bit "You know, for being Hela's daughter... I guess.." I sighed "they never actually told me, I was just kept there, that was all I knew, and then next thing I knew I was on the streets, homeless. Then Frigga explained my mother's past to me and I went and imprisoned my mum for until I die, by which time she'll probably be dead herself, and for that Odin, who I guess is your dad, banished me from Asgard.." I felt tears coming to my eyes, as I thought back to all the punishments my mother deserved but I got. I then quickly wiped away my tears, before they even made it out of my eyes, and looked at Thor and Loki. They looked a bit sad and apologetic, they knew I had heard their assumptions about me when I was just a little girl and they felt guilty that they didn't know to help me. "Hey, I am here now, on Earth, as an Avenger, thanks to all of that I've found a place I belong to." I smiled as well as I could. Thor then, out of nowhere, wrapped himself around me, to hug me. I had gotten used to people hugging me by now, so I let him. "So, now that you don't have to find me, what are you two planning on doing next?" "Well, I guess we'll come to the Headquarters with you all. I mean I doubt Dr. Strange, the wizard guy, would let Loki just be on Earth without him first proving himself trustworthy." Loki added that, "Thor thinks I should become an Avenger, and I, which probably comes as a surprise for some of you, agree." Tony thought for a bit, then pulled Cap to the side and they discussed it, or that's what I assume. "Alright," he said when coming back "you are now a probationary Avenger Loki, but you don't have access to any weapons or bigger stuff and you have to prove yourself trustworthy, which considering your past, will take time."

And so Loki moved to the last (current) free room in the Headquarters, and it just happened to be next to mine, his was the last room of the corridor.
