Why? (Depressed Eren X Captain Levi)

**Levi**

"EREN!!" I yelled as Yeager's passed out body fell towards the ground, I ran up to Yeager, flipping him over on his back.

I placed his head on my lap, creating a lap pillow. 'What drove him to do this..?' I thought to myself as I picked up his bloody wrist, trying to stop the bleeding.

"HANJI! GET A FUCKING MEDIC!" I yelled, snap her out of shock.

Hanji dashed inside to get help, second felt like minutes, minutes felt hours. I was worried that Eren would die from blood lost.

I looked up to see my squad in the same position I last saw them in. I was angry that all they were doing was staring at their comrade, slowly dying. "ELD! GO SEE WHAT TAKING HANJI SO FUCKING LONG!" I order, this shit is so fucking stressful..

Eld quickly saluted and ran inside, he then came back outside with Hanji and some doctors.

Eren was now resting in the recovery room, he was heavily bandaged on his left arm. I would say wrist but his cuts lead all the way to his forearm..

I watched over him, waiting for him to wake up. Hanji and Erwin would drop in every once and awhile, Erwin came back in and I was ready for him to tell me to leave or get some rest, tch.

Like I would?

"Levi, you can't blame yourself.." Erwin said, that was an unexpected turn...

"Erwin, yes i can." I simply said, leaning my body against the wall and keeping my eyes on Eren

"Levi, you must understa-"

"NO ERWIN!" I yelled, cutting off Erwin. "Erwin, he showed signs of depression but I ignored it and pushed it aside! I really thought it was teenagers hormones.." I can sense Erwin staring at me, great.. I feel more guilty.

"Erwin, he learned how to fake his smile and laugh.. we don't even know how long he's been doing this, he has too many scars.." I finally looked away from Eren and looked at Erwin, yup. He was staring.. Tch.

"Levi, what do you mean by 'learned how to fake his smile and laugh?'" Erwin questioned...

I let out a sigh before answering, "when we found out Eren was cutting he gave his usually happy joy, joy smile and said 'it's okay Captain, don't use any resources on me' he was faking his smile, if only you could've seen his eyes.. his eyes will tell you a whole different story than his facial expression..."

Erwin looked deeply surprised at my words, "never knew you can care so much for him" He tried to lighten the mood, realized how I said 'tried'

"I don't care for him, he is humanity's last hope and it's my job to take care of him." What makes him think I care for this brat?

It's been a few hours since the event, Eren still hasn't woken up. I let out a sigh as I was tired of standing, I grabbed the chair near the bed and sat there.

"Listen Yeager, when you wake up your gonna clean this whole Castle. You hear me?" I questioned, what was I thinking. He isn't gonna respond.

A few seconds later I got up from the seats and was heading toward the door, "mmh" I heard a noise coming from Eren's direction. "Guess that'll do" I said as a small smile was about to crawl onto my mouth, I continued to head out the door to get food. I'm fucking starving but I don't feel like I should have left him...

I entered the mess hall to see my squad having a small chat, which pissed me off. They haven't visited Yeager, not once.

I walked past them to grab my rashes and my usual cup of black tea.

I sat with them, still angry at them. I drank my tea as I listened to their little chit chat.

A few minutes past as I was about to head back to Eren until the food hall door opens.

It was Eren...

Eren walked, grabbed a glass of water and then walked over towards us, we were all in shock. None of use expected him to wake up so soon, I guess you do heal faster when you have regeneration powers.

Eren still looks pretty shitty. Dark bags under his eyes, pale from blood lost, messy hair, and his eyes looking dead.

He looks really shitty.

Eren sat at the table we were all at, Auruo gave Eren a glare before speaking.

"Eren, you come here with no skill and you do this?! What the fuck! You've got some nerves, doing this for attention!" Auruo yelled at Eren, fucking pissing me off.

"Aur-" I got cut off by Yeager yelling weakly. "You fuckers think I did this for attention?!" Eren yelled, making everyone stop and stare at him, "I did this for I can show you guys I'm not some disgusting titan you kill daily! I'm not some object! Not a weapon! I won't transform if I get a paper cut!" Eren slammed his palm on the table.

I glared at my squad, they were mortified. As expected, not going to lie I was kinda disappointed in them.

"Yeager, go back to the recovery room. I'll join you in a bit." I said, still glaring at my squad.

"Yes sir.." Eren walked off, I waited for the sound of the food hall door closing.

There's that sound.

"You guys got anything to say?" I questioned in a tone of authority

Petra began to tremble as she was holding back tears. "W-we c-caused-d t-thi-s~?" She said, stuttering every word

"Yes. Yes you did." I said walking off and headed towards Eren recovery room.

I knocked on Eren's recovery room door and waited for an answer, "come in" I twisted the doorknob and walked in.
I saw Eren staring out the window that was near his bed, I walked towards the seat I was in before I had left. "Why?" Eren said, not looking away from the window, "Huh?" "Why save me?" Eren questioned, finally turning his head to me.

"Because your humanity last hope" I said, replying to Eren's questioned, Eren scoffed and than started to laugh like a mad man.

"As expected," He said, using that fake smile. It fucking breaks my heart.
"Eren" Eren looked at me in shock for using his first name instead of 'brat' or 'Yeager' "Your humanity's last hope, yes. But you're also a soldier, every soldier has someone waiting for them to come home.  A soldier is also human, and you are both. A human, a kid and a soldier."

Eren gave a decent look, a real decent look. "Who..? Who is waiting for me to come home?" he said on the verge of tears. Guilty hit me as I realized what he said, his home town was destroyed, his mom was eaten in front of him, his dad is missing. I don't know a lot about him so I'm not sure if he has anyone left in his family.

"Come home to me then" Eren shot his head up, looking shocked at what I had just said. "W-What?" Eren mumbled. "When on missions, come back home to me. You're in my squad and you are under my care." 

Eren let out a decent chuckle, not like his mad man laugh. "Okay." Eren said, giving a smile but this time not a fake one. "Promise me."
"Huh?" Eren looked confused from what I just said, "Promise me that you will come back home to me"

"I promise.."
