Why? (Depressed Eren X Captain Levi)

Chapter 9

"The Aftermath"

**Hanji**

Levi screams Eren's name over and over again along with the words 'don't leave me', the effect of Eren's death will absolutely be the one to break him.

I turned my attention away from Levi and looked at Eren's cold body, tears formed in my eyes as I was about to accept the fact that Eren was gone. I placed my fingers onto Eren's neck to confirm he's dead, I applied a bit of pressure onto his neck.

....so far, nothing... I applied more pressure to his neck, boom.

My sadness instantly turned into happiness, Eren is still alive. He is on the verge of death though, he needs medical attention now.

I turned my head to Levi who was crying onto Eren's shoulder, a small smile crept onto my face.

"Levi, Eren is alive. He does need medical attention, though.." I awaited for Levi's response, Levi's eyes widened as he processed the fact.

Eren was getting treated right now, no one was allowed in. At least for now... Levi looked miserable, we all did. It was 4 in the fucking morning and we had to start out with someone dying... Levi's eyes are puffy from crying and have dark circles from the late night of no sleeping.

**Levi**

Me and Hanji waited for some intel on Eren, time felt very slow. I repeatedly tapped my leg on the floor, Hanji kept pacing back and forth as well as biting her nails.

Erwin stopped by to give a blank paper, it was a report. Once we got it, Hanji sat down and immediately started writing. I didn't, I just sat; there looking at the clock.

"Levi you should do the report, it will help pass time.." Hanji said somewhat cheerful, I scoffed as I grabbed the paper and pen.

I attached the paper to the clipboard and got into a more comfortable position. 'When did the incident occur?',

'Do you know the reason he/she did it?', 'what is their current state?', 'write down in your own words what happened:'.

As I read the question, a weight of guilt landed in my shoulders. I left him alone, I knew his state of mind but I still left him alone...

Anger and guilt ran through my body, I slammed the clipboard on the seat next to me; making Hanji jump with the noise.

I got up and left, leaving a scared and worried Hanji.

I went to the dungeon to see if we had missed anything, at first I saw nothing but a bloody chair along with two pools of blood that were slowly connecting to one another.

I noticed something nexts to the bloody chair, it was a deck. Well I notice that there is something on the decks.

It was a clipboard, I made my way there trying not to dirty my shoes with blood. The clipboard had a few letters that Eren wrote.. I guess he didn't want to leave until he said bye.

One letter was addressed to me, another letter with Hanji's name imprinted on it, and a few other names. Guessing those other names were he's friends when he was in the cadet cor.

I unfolded the paper with my name on it and read the note.

'Hey, if this is Captain Levi then I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for doing this. I know you put your trust in me to come back when I'm ready but the thing is I'm not ready. I'm not ready to be in this timeline, so please. Move on and enjoy your squad! I will be watching from wherever I am.'

Tears formed in my eyes as I finished the letter. I put those words in his head and most likely gave him the idea... There was a second letter for Hanji and the others. I made my way back to Hanji, Hanji was still writing her report.

I took a few steps closer to Hanji, I stood in front of her. She noticed my presents and looked up. "You okay?" She asked me to putting away the clipboard, in return I gave a small nod. I dug Hanji's letter out from my pocket and handed it to her.

**Hanji**
I was about finished with my report when I noticed Levi, he looked more down. I asked if he was okay, he just gave a small nod. Levi dugged in his pockets, a few seconds later Levi pulled out a small piece of paper with my name entitled.

It had my name on it so i guess it's for me. I tooked the letter from Levi's hand, I unfolded the piece of paper and began to read it.

'Hey hanji.. Haha.. This will probably be one of my hardest goodbye. You've been so kind to me ever since we met, you've taken care of me and notice the smallest sighs. I'm very grateful that I was able to call you my friend. I know you will most likely stop being cheerful and you probably won't be as obsessed with titans.. BUT! Please just ignore my death, I want you to be happy and enjoy your life to the fullest. Now that I think about it, you were kinda like a mother to me and moblit is kinda like my father! At least I don't have to eat him. Hanji I wrote this letter to say goodbye but I don't want to, at least not yet. Though, I know this world isn't ready for a monster like me yet, so I must put myself to rest. Thank you for everything'

Tears slid down my face as I finished the letter, few of my salty tears landed on the letter. I brought my teary eyes to Levi that looked overwhelmed, "Did you... Did you get one to?" I asked out of curiosity. Levi nobbed as he reached in his pocket, he pulled out letters that weren't his. He officially lost me, did Eren write him more than one? "These are letters, I don't reconsider the names so I am guessing that they were his friends from the cadet cor, If Eren doesn't make it I'm thinking it will be best to send it..." Levi voiced cracked as he mentioned Eren not making it.

Levi handed me the small pile of letters, the names were both male and female. Well, I am assuming.

Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Sasha, Connie, Reiner, Bertolt, Christa, Ymir, and Marco. I didn't expect this little amount of people, with Eren's warm and kind heart I thought he would have more friends. I guess having the ability to transform into a tall 15 meters titan, kinda takes a toll on you.

Giving them this letter will mess them up or at least I think, I have no idea who they are or how close they are to Eren. I took a deep breath as I finally came to a concussion of my answer. "No." Levi snapped his head back to my dicreaction, "Huh?" Levi said, sounded kinda pissed. "We aren't going to send the letters, Eren's gonna wake up soon and he's gonna need your help to get back on his feet. During that we will most likely start recruiting, so when Erens better; we can ask him who is fit to join!" I wanted to make Levi believe Eren will pull through so I tried to stay as positive as I could.

Levi let out a small chuckle as he walked off, "Where are you going?" Levi stopped in his tracks as he turned his head, his facial expression seemed more happy and beaming with confidence. "I need to submit my report" Levi flashed me the paper as he began to walk off.

Yes! I did it! See Eren! Haha!... Sorry, kinda had a moment

Levi sure is a tuff knuckle to crack but looks like Eren found his weakness, now! I needed comforting.. Eren hurry up and wake up..
