"Here is the second lab." Skeppy peeked inside of the lab. Dream followed.
Two more employees were sitting down and doing logs. One turned around to get something and saw Skeppy and Dream.
"Oh, hey Skeppy. Nice to see you." The man stood up and hugged Skeppy.
Skeppy smiled. "Good to see you back, Wilbur. Wilbur, I wanted you to meet our newest member, Dream."
Dream did a small wave. Wilbur shook his hand. "Pleased to meet you Dream. We've been getting a lot of new workers for the facility."
Dream nodded and looked around the room. "Skeppy's giving me a tour of the building."
Skeppy nodded. "Oh, right. The tour. Well, we should get going. See you later Will!"
"Bye Skeppy. Bye Dream." Wilbur turned around and sat back down.
Dream followed Skeppy back out into the hallway. "Are there any more containment cells that I can see?"
Skeppy nodded. "We have one upstairs. I'll supervise you since you don't have a key card yet."
The two climbed up the stairs onto the second floor. More workers were walking around than downstairs. Skeppy led Dream to the containment rooms. They suited up and walked inside. Dream looked at the cells. Only two of them said occupied.
"These are our two other patients." Skeppy gestured to the cells. Dream walked up to them.
"What is this one?"
"That was the first patient ever found, we found him in an evergreen forest. He is definitely more intelligent than other patients, and with a bit of testing we found that his DNA has been severely tampered with, although we don't really know what with."
Dream crouched down and watched as the subject was...sharpening a golden knife? "You let him have a knife?"
"He wouldn't let go of it." Skeppy shrugged.
"Hm." Dream analyzed him more. "He has pinkish-reddish hair, and he seems to have a very well-built, strong figure. He might have been mutated with some sort of animal, since it looks like he has small tusks."
"Well, we aren't in charge of that. He's not our subject."
Dream stood up and moved to the second cell. "This one's empty too, do you have another invisible subject?"
Skeppy shook his head. "From the information I got, this subject teleports in and out of space."
Dream raised his eyebrows and looked back to the cell to see a tall figure with half black and white skin, along with hair, sitting in a corner. "Wow." Dream leaned onto the glass. The creature looked up at Dream and quickly backed further into the wall.
"He's a scared one, for sure. He is the only subject that we haven't been able to get any testing or readings on, much less try to communicate with him," Skeppy said.
Dream stepped back and nodded. "So, my schedule said that today I get to move into my dorm. I have my stuff in my car. Could you show me to it?"
Skeppy nodded. "Sure, I'll help you."
After Dream and Skeppy got out of the containment room, they unloaded Dream's things and made their way to the dorms.
"It kind of sucks that I live far away from the foundation. I hope the dorms are nice."
Skeppy struggled to balance Dream's boxes. "Oh, they are. And nobody who works here lives close anyway."
Dream looked at Skeppy confused. "What?"
"Here's your dorm. You said it was 404 right?"
Dream nodded. He pulled out his dorm card and unlocked it. "Wow, it is nice."
There was a modern decoration feel to the room, with a gray bed spread and gray shelves and cabinets. There were soft white lights illuminating the room and matte black tiles. It is was a small room, but much bigger than your typical college-size dorm. There was a small kitchen with an electric stove and a washing and drying machine right underneath the counter top, along with a bathroom right next to it.
Skeppy set the boxes down on the bed and huffed. "Well, enjoy. Oh and by the way, I'm two dorms down if you ever need me."
Dream nodded and smiled. "Thanks Skeppy."
Skeppy smiled and left the dorm. Dream looked down at his stuff. "Eh, I'll unpack later." Dream walked out of his dorm and locked it. He turned to see another dorm across the hallway from his. I guess I should meet my neighbors.
Dream walked up to the door and knocked on it. He felt the cold air conditioner breeze against his arms and got shivers.
The door opened. A tall man with red-orange hair looked at Dream. "Hi?"
Dream smiled. "Hi, my name is Dream. I'm your dorm neighbor. Nice to meet you." Dream looked down at the man's shoes all the way up to his face. Wait a minute...he has...animal ears?
The man smiled. "Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Fundy."
Dream continued to stare at his ears. Fundy noticed and laughed. "Oh, my ears? I was exposed for too long to a fox Altre, so I developed fox ears and really good hearing." Fundy pricked his ears up to demonstrate.
Dream nodded. "So, if you're exposed to a subject for too long you get mutation side effects?"
Fundy nodded. "Especially if you're around them everyday. I developed an attachment to a certain fox creature, so I was always around it. Until I grew these, of course. Then we had to send it away." Fundy's tone of voice grew the tinniest bit sadder.
Dream nodded again. "So, you're saying that there are other creatures besides humanoid ones?"
Fundy clicked his tongue. "Yep. We have mutated animals too."
"Ah, okay. I don't know much about this place, they don't really give you too much information to work off of."
Fundy nervously looked left and right into the hallway. "Uh...yeah. I agree, this place is really nice."
Dream paused. "What?"
Fundy chuckled and stepped back. "Alright, well, see you later nice to meet you Dream!" He slammed the door closed. Dream scoffed. Okay? What the hell was that?
