Journal Entry #9: Start Fresh

"Okay, let's get to know each other I guess." 

Skeppy sat crisscrossed on the floor in front of Halo. 

"I can look like Bad if you want-"

"No, no." Skeppy stared into Halo's blank eyes. "I want to know you. And see the real you."

Halo nodded, a slight smile forming on his face. "Well Bad and I are friends now. I just thought you would want to know that I'm not hurting him or anything."

"I know you're not hurting him it's just-"

"-you don't get to see him all the time. I know. I can hear you and Bad talking sometimes."

Skeppy sighed. "We should um...I'm going to get some snacks. Want any?"

Halo shrugged. "I don't need to eat, but I guess I can try something. Let me help you."

Halo stood up and grabbed two of the three bowls Skeppy set out. The two sat down and adjusted themselves.

Skeppy watched as Halo tried a chip. "These are good. How does the flavor get in them?"

Skeppy chuckled. "I don't know, honestly."

Halo continued to eat more chips as Skeppy silently watched. "Halo, how come you've been so kind to me lately?"

Halo popped another chip into his mouth and shrugged. "I saw how hurt you were. I understood because I was hurt once too. You and Bad- I can tell why you two are inseparable. You love each other a lot."

Halo resumed his snacking and Skeppy smiled at his words. "Thank you Halo. And I'm sorry for being so rude and standoff-ish to you. I was angry. Me and Bad's relationship was falling apart. I truly do want to know you, and just...start fresh."

Halo nodded. "I can be mean sometimes. It's like something just takes over and starts being the biggest prick ever. It's hard to control, my emotions, and I guess that's just me being a demon. You know that I'm sort of connected to Bad. I guess I'm a little in love with you, I just show it differently."

Skeppy nodded, then shook his head. Wait, did he just say he was a little in love with me?

"You- you what?"

Halo looked up. "I'm not a monstrously evil demon. I can love someone. And you feel like home to me. Why? Are you ok?"

Skeppy scoffed and smiled big. "No, no I'm fine it's just- you understand the concept of...love, right?"

Halo shrugged. "I feel it."

Skeppy nodded. "Okay, well saying that you love someone is a really big thing and..."

Halo stared at Skeppy, now confused.

Skeppy raised his eyebrows hoping something would click for Halo. "You literally just told me that you loved me."

Halo nodded slowly. "Yeah? I do. Why are we still talking about it?"

Skeppy laughed and turned away, his face slightly reddening; he felt a little heart warmed that Halo willingly said it so bluntly. He looked back at Halo.

"It's nothing. Wanna try a cookie?"
