Dream smiled at Niki as she walked up to him. She adjusted her pink-haired braid and looked at Dream.

Niki, who is Dream's mentor, got hired to train new workers at the research center in case they needed any help. Which in Dream's case, he needed a lot.

"How are you doing today Dream? Feeling a little better with your migraines?"

Dream shrugged. "Eh, not really. I'm just trying to avoid any bright lights in here, but sometimes there's not much I can do about it." Dream adjusted his sunglasses.

"Are the sunglasses working for you? I tested it many times before giving it to you to make sure everything is perfect." Niki smiled.

Dream took them off and looked at them. "Yeah, they work pretty well, actually. How did you figure out how to make sunglasses without tinting the lens?"

"Oh, I didn't make them. But our technology here is pretty advanced; I'm certain you noticed." Niki gestured to the tools and objects on the table.

Dream nodded. "Yeah, it's pretty cool. The migraines aren't going away that much, but I think it's because I'm adjusting to these sunglasses."

Niki nodded. She put her hand up to her ear and looked to the side. "What is it? Oh, okay. Alright I'll be there soon."

She turned back to Dream with a big smile on her face. "Well, I'm happy you are getting the most out of them. I have to go, but make sure to drink enough water and keep those glasses on!" She waved as she walked away.

Dream waved back and turned to head towards the containment room.

He stepped inside with his usual hazmat suit on and turned towards the cells. Dream took a deep breath and stepped forwards. He muttered under his breath as he unlocked the first cell and glanced at George. "Stupid... Altres..." Dream stepped in and closed the door behind him. He turned to face the fiery boy in front of him.

"Hey, Sapnap, how you doin buddy?" Dream sat down and made himself comfortable.

Sapnap sat down crisscrossed and stared at Dream. Dream sighed. "I'm great, thanks for asking."

Sapnap scooted towards Dream and leaned against the wall next to him. He turned to look at Dream.

Dream looked over and jumped. "Geez, Sap, your face was wayyy too close to mine."

Dream remembered he had a suit on and sighed. "Sorry, I forgot it's fine for me. How are your fire managing skills going?"

Sapnap cocked his head to one side. He held his hand up and a small flame burst into sight on top of it.

Dream smiled. "So cool." He reached out to grab Sapnap's hand and Sapnap jerked away. Dream continued to hold his hand out. Sapnap slowly put his into Dream's.

Dream nodded with approval. "There we go. I'm not hurting you Sap, I never will."

Sapnap smiled, the flames in his eyes disappearing, leaving behind his true sapphire glassy eyes.

Dream noticed and felt a fleeting sense of nostalgia. He shook it off and sighed. "Well Sap, I've had a pretty rough week..."

Dream talked to Sapnap for hours, rambling on and on about the things he found confusing or his favorite type of pasta. Sapnap listened quietly and never let go of Dream's hand.

Eventually Dream checked his watch. 10:05. Dream gasped and got up quickly. "Shit. I've gotta get my log done."

He looked down at Sapnap, staring at the ground. Maybe I shouldn't have said that in front of him. "Hey, you know I don't think of you as a subject or a lab rat, you know?"

Dream squatted down in front of Sapnap. "I think of you as my friend. I'm sorry that you have to be in here, I wish there was another way." Dream sighed as Sapnap continued to stare at the ground. He opened his hand and started to play with the flames.

Dream walked out the cell and looked at Sapnap before leaving. "Thanks for being a good listener."

Dream made his way down the hall and reached his dorm. He paused at his door, hearing some kind of muffled noise behind him. Dream turned around and listened more closely.

"What is that sound?" He turned towards Fundy's dorm. Dream walked up to it and leaned his ear against it. Was that...crying?

"I know it's just...he means so much to me."

"I don't care. Suck it up Bad, stop acting like it's gonna die when you leave it."

"HE! HE'S A HE!"

"IT'S A BLACK BLOB MONSTER BAD! WHY DO YOU THINK SKEPPY LEFT YOU?! BECAUSE YOU CHOSE A FUCKING CREATURE, OVER YOUR BOYFRIEND!"

Dream jumped back at the yelling. He quickly leaned back in.

"WELL SKEPPY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT ME! SO STOP TELLING ME TO SUCK IT UP I'M NOT LEAVING HALO JACKASS!"

Loud silence came after.

"Bad, I'm...I'm sorry I-"

"No, you're not sorry. You're patronizing me, just because you got affected by a stupid fox first. I never cared about Skeppy anyway, much less gave a shit about you."

"Bad? What- why are you cursing?! You never do that!"

"Shut up, Fundy."

Dream heard footsteps coming towards him. He quickly rushed across the hallway to his door and pretended to open it. Bad opened the door and slammed it. Dream innocently looked over at Bad. "Hey Bad!"

Bad jerked his head up and grumbled. "Hey." He walked away.

Dream frowned and stepped into his dorm. He closed the door behind him and sat down. "My first job after over 6 years of studying anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, medicine and supernatural forces and I get this." Dream sighed as he got up to check his face. He bent down to adjust his shirt and looked back up. "OH MY GOD!"

Dream fell backwards and hit his head on the bed frame. "Ow..." He rubbed his head as he looked back up at the mirror.

A tall blond haired boy laughed in the mirror. He looked down at Dream smiling, then back up and started looking at the dorm.

Dream huffed and got up. "How the hell are you here? Aren't you a subject?"

Dream remembered what Skeppy said. "Oh shit, you can control mirrored surfaces."

The boy looked up at Dream. Dream leaned to the side and saw the other brunette boy sitting in the background behind the blond boy. "Wasn't your cell specialized for that?" Dream asked.

He stared at Dream. Dream sighed. "Right, you can't talk."

The boy tilted his head in confusion. Dream groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "And you can't understand me either why am I even trying." Dream looked back up to see the boy gone.

He groaned and rolled onto his bed. "I've got to tell someone about that blond kid...and that teleporting half black half white kid..." Dream sat up.

"Who runs this place anyway?"
