"George I think we need to talk."
Dream followed George into the kitchen. George looked up at Dream. "About what?"
"We should go outside first." Dream took a shaky breath in and out.
George nodded. "Okay."
George and Dream made their way outside, sitting down on a small bench just in front of the house.
"Okay, so I wanted to address this before things, you know, get out of hand," Dream said.
George nodded.
Dream rubbed his arms to warm them up from the cool breeze. "I don't like to admit my feelings, but this time it all just came rushing forwards, like something old was rekindled."
George nodded again, waiting patiently for what Dream had to say.
"It all came...rushing..." Dream suddenly forgot his words.
He looked back at George. At his deep honey eyes, at his soft dark chocolate hair. At the way he shivered when a light wind tickled him, or the way his porcelain skin would glow in the youthful shine of the sunlight.
And then it clicked. Just like Eret had said, the rush and the joy would be the best thing you could ever experience. And Dream knew, he knew his past, he knew of all the sweet memories before his life now, he knew of all the emotions that came with it. He remembered when he and George first met, in high school in the library. He remembered when they first kissed on a camping trip in Oregon. He remembered all the late-night talks and the early morning calls. He remembered when they moved in together after George finished college and Dream was studying to be a scientist.
He remembered when he proposed.
Then Dream remembered the screams. Both his and George's, as Dream was taken away and locked up, only to have his memories stripped and to be used as a filthy worker for the Foundation.
And Dream found himself crying, as he realized that his beautiful life was taken from him. George was taken from him.
"Dream?! Why are you crying? Are you alright?" George worried as Dream looked back at him.
"I love you, George. But we can't be together anymore. It's not safe for you."
"What? Dream what are you saying-"
"I was lying. I was lying when I said that you were safe with me. Because I didn't want to admit the truth that you were safer on your own. I was being selfish and greedy because I wanted...all I want is you."
George looked up at Dream with a bleak face as Dream turned away from George, not daring to look back at him, worried that even a single glance would make him hurt more.
"You...you love me?"
Dream nodded.
"I- I don't know what to say Dream- what do you mean by me being safer on my own-"
"You don't have to love me back George. I just want you happy and safe."
"But does that mean that you're leaving?"
Dream shook his head. "You're too vulnerable here with everyone else in the house. I'm going to talk to Eret and we're going to take you back where you were first found. Maybe someone there could help you."
"Isn't that the optometry? Why would I go back there I don't want to leave you Dream-"
"George." Dream slowly looked back at George panicking. "You have to leave me."
George shook his head frantically. "No! No, Dream you're the only person who I trust and I don't want to leave you I don't want to leave you-"
"I can't be with you anymore George. It's too painful. The memories- I just can't."
Dream stood up and went inside, leaving George.

"I think we should tell Tommy and Tubbo and Ranboo."
"What?! No, they are kids. This is- this is just too much for them. Not yet."
Sapnap rolled his eyes at Eret. "They're almost legal adults. I think they can handle death."
"They can handle the death of someone on the news, not our friend who was killed by another friend."
Eret felt a light tap on his left shoulder. He turned. "Dream?"
Dream looked up at Eret with red eyes and a somber face.
Sapnap rushed towards Dream. "Dude are you ok? What happened?"
Dream shook his head. "Eret I think we need to take George somewhere safe. He needs to stay away from us and with someone who we can trust."
Eret paused for a second. He nodded slightly. "Um...yeah I think we all need to be on our own for our own safety. Where's George?"
"He's outside. Do you think we can maybe do it today?" Dream asked.
"We don't have to do it right away-"
"I think it's best if we do it as soon as possible," Dream argued.
Eret nodded slowly. "Okay, yeah, we'll do it today. Let's get George."
They went back outside and around the house to the bench.
"George, we-"
The three of them stared at the empty bench.
Dream rushed towards it. "George?! GEORGE!"
"Where'd he go?!" Sapnap looked around.
Eret looked at the fields stretched out around him. "Shit."

George walked down the lot of grass and hopped down to the ground. He made his way to the front of the building and peered into the glass door, pushing it open and looking around. It smelled of pine-scented cleaner and rubbing alcohol. He walked up to a wall with various pictures and examined them.
George jumped as he heard a crash behind him. He turned around to see a young man standing in a doorway with a white coat and a box with eyeglasses scattered on the ground.
The man laughed in shock. "George?"
George smiled. "Hi Karl."
