Chapter Eight
The Cottage
"Why did you bring a child up here with you?" Leon asked Johnny.
"She was lost, and anyway her parents weren't anywhere to be found. Even when I tried searching for them I couldn't find them," Johnny replied.
"This is not a charity pack Johnny; we do not associate with humans! Now take that child back to wherever she came from," Leon snarled.
"Aw, can I not keep her? Besides, she's adorable," Johnny said and started to whine.
"Seriously how old are you? She's not yours to keep. Now either you grow up and take the child back to wherever she came from or I will drag you back if it's the last thing I do," Leon stated.
"Yeah okay boss," Johnny groaned before kissing the girl on the cheek again.
Leon quickly shook his head and departed from the area in the forest making his way down and out of the forest.
Today was the day when he would have to help Evelyn leave the village and possibly take her to somewhere safe where nobody would even think of looking for her.
What had happened to him? Normally he hated humans apart from Ranfore of course. But he never cared about anyone and now he was going to help a human get out of the village since he didn't want any harm to come to her. Just what was going on with him?
He made his way down towards the village only to see his master talking to someone outside the cottage. Both of them looked very serious as if they had been discussing something very significant.
"Ah there you are Leon. Come over here right away." Ranfore moved his finger back and forth motioning for him to come forward.
He didn't need telling twice; he walked over towards his master and saw a young man of maybe twenty-three years of age scowling at Ranfore. And he knew that face all too well; it was Jeff's.
"This young fellow tells me that you have done some damage to his woman," his master told him.
For a few minutes, Leon stayed silent and then glared at Jeff angrily. What the hell is he up to now? He thought bitterly.
"Why would I want anything to do with his woman? The only woman he has in his life is his mother now and I have never seen her," he responded cheekily.
He grinned towards Jeff who was biting his lips while his knuckles had turned white since he had balled them into fists.
"Really funny, you can talk. I don't see your mother around in this village. Is she dead?" he taunted Leon.
"Watch your mouth or I will shut it for you," he warned Jeff before allowing his master to speak to this man whom he considered as nothing but a runt.
"Listen I didn't ask Leon to come over here so you could taunt him. Now either you tell him what your problem is or problems will start to happen for you," Ranfore growled at Jeff.
"My child has gone missing and Chloe was clearly beaten up by someone last night when she was trying to find our little girl. She claims that it was you who beat her," Jeff claimed.
"Hah, the bitch clearly has nothing better to do, so she gets herself beaten up and claims that it was me all because she dislikes me. She's a bitch through and through," he said continuing to taunt Jeff.
"She may be a bitch at times, but she's no liar. Someone had beaten her up since she was bruised all over," Jeff exclaimed.
"What's your little girl's name? And whereabouts was Chloe looking for her daughter?" Leon retorted.
