Chapter Sixteen

The Landlord

After Leon had departed from the cottage, he made his way back towards the village. The thoughts of a werewolf taking Jeff's life still lingered in his mind. Why had Jeff been murdered? Had he done something to someone that had been unforgiveable? What motive did the werewolf have for killing Jeff? He couldn't put the pieces together.

He wandered through the village making his way towards one of the cottages not too far away from the Little Brown Pony. The grey stone steps were stained with some dry blood, as he walked up towards the front door and surprisingly it had been left unlocked. He entered the cottage, closing the door behind him he took in the sight before him.

Cobwebs were forming on the walls; dust was everywhere, on the small coffee table and on the sofa that was beside one of the windows in the living room that was filthy. The room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The curtains hadn't been pulled back at all.

He scoffed as he couldn't stand the sight of the living room but then again he had to come here, despite the fact that he didn't care about Jeff, if there was a werewolf in the village then he needed to find some evidence apart from being told about a bite mark on Jeff's skin.

The multiple cobwebs made everything look so old and gloomy it was like entering a haunted mansion. As he started to look around the living room for anything that would help indicate why Jeff was murdered, he heard the front door opening and ended up halting before turning around only to see Johnny walking into the living room.

"What are you doing here? Johnny." he asked his best friend.

"I thought you could use some help." Johnny replied.

"You never do as you're told do you?" Leon stated bluntly.

"It always depends on what you want me to do. How did you know where Jeff lived anyway?" Johnny asked.

"I always hear things in the pub. When Jeff was alive, he and his friends were always talking about random things. In the past I ended up following Chloe one time and ended up seeing where their little home was." he explained.

"So you thought you would check it out?"

"Yes I thought I should."

"Then we should start searching. But what exactly are we supposed to be looking for?" Johnny raised an eyebrow.

"I should be telling you to go back to the forest to make sure Taylor doesn't escape." Johnny soon cut him off.

"Relax I've taken care of him so he can't escape. Anyway Azu and Delilah are making sure he doesn't try anything stupid." he assured Leon.

"Fine, we're supposed to be looking for anything that would give us some clue as to why Jeff was murdered." Leon explained.

"Maybe we should try searching upstairs first." Johnny suggested.

"I love how your little mind works at times." Leon smiled wickedly.

They made their way upstairs and found a double bedroom. They started to search the room looking for anything that would be useful to them.

"This place is disgusting. Did they even bother to clean anything in their house?" Johnny complained as he held his nose with one hand and threw one of Jeff's jackets on to the bed.

Leon had been searching through one of the drawers before noticing a letter hidden behind some aftershave.

"Get over here now." he instructed as he opened the piece of paper.
