Chapter Twenty One

Somewhere new

She couldn't believe her ears she couldn't, she wouldn't believe what he was telling her. She furrowed her eyebrows towards him before finding her voice and spoke to him still keeping the bitterness in her tone.

"He is no monster. True he may not be a complete saint, and it is true he has done some bad things in the past that some people may never forgive him for but he is no monster to me. He saved me when there was no-one else around to do so when I was being attacked by Jeff and his friends. He took me to a safe place away from the inn and away from the village so my father wouldn't be able to find me. He took care of me and showed me that there was more to him than just a bad temper. He has kindness in him, and he's good and protective of the people he cares about and I'm grateful for all that he had done for me. He knew that he was putting himself and others in danger but he did it anyway. He saved my life. He didn't have to but he did it anyway. However, you stand in front of me telling me he is a monster when really he isn't. The real monster is you and my father. You both kill in cold blood constantly, hunting innocent people down and killing without mercy. Leon however is nothing like that and I know it because I have seen a change in him. He could have killed Jeff and his thugs after what they tried to do to me but he didn't. He spared them. Leon is no monster. He is a hero." she stood up to him.

"He killed Chloe that hardly makes him a hero." Asher stated.

"If he killed Chloe, it is because of the way she treated me and of the fact that she kidnapped Isabelle I feel no sympathy for her. She deserved to die. She threatened me and she kidnapped Isabelle along with Jeff. He did it to protect the ones he cares about." she continued to stand her ground.

"I haven't told you the best part have I? I used Tyler to bite Jeff's neck. Or you could say the word forced since I told him I would kill him if he didn't. Of course, Jeff wasn't dead when he did it or when he had finished biting him since I didn't want him to die too quickly. I wanted him to suffer for kidnaping Isabelle. So I made sure that he bled." he sniggered.

"You're no different from my father. How could you force Tyler to do something he didn't want to do!" she bellowed at him.

"Well it's easier said than done. The question is now what happens to you? Do I let you find your own way out of here? Or do I help you find a new home? I wonder." he mocked her slightly.

"I will never accept any help from you. You're not capable of helping others." she continued to bellow at him.

"I'm the only family you've got now. Your father is gone so you're left with nobody but me." He raised his voice at her.

"I have my own friends. I will make my own way in this world everybody does. I will do what I want to do and I will not relay on someone like you to help me through it. It is my decision and mine alone and nothing you say or do will convince me otherwise Asher." she responded strictly.

She looked around to see that there was one small van that hadn't left the village yet. Yes, this is my chance now. If I go now and leave I will be free to start my own life away from him and others who have showed me unkindness. She thought as she started to walk towards the van hoping she wouldn't hear another word from Asher's mouth.

"If you are going to make your own way in the world then you better get on that van now. You are so Elizabeth's daughter." he commented softly before helping her on to the vehicle.

She nodded in agreement showing him a faint smile as she heard her mother's name being mentioned. Despite their debate she nodded at him once again in respect. This was it she was going somewhere new and she was going to start a new life one way or another.
