Chapter Ten

A Threat

"Wow very funny. But I'd watch your mouth if I were you Taylor. After all you wouldn't want Leon to tell you off now would you? You know how he is when one of his member's behaves in a deplorable manner. You wouldn't want to get told off now would you?" Johnny returned the taunt.

"Sometimes I wonder how you became his best friend." Taylor seethed.

"That is our business and not yours Taylor."

"I don't really want to discuss anything with you anyway."

"Then we will have the discussion tomorrow." Johnny announced.

"Hmm since when did you make decisions?" Delilah raised an eyebrow.

"Since Leon put me in charge today I might add." Johnny smirked.

"Now I think all of us should get to bed." Johnny turned towards Evelyn motioning for the others to go forward.

Without any further words the two men and the woman sauntered passed Johnny keeping their eyes towards the distance not saying anything.

It wasn't until the others were out of sight that Johnny spoke to Evelyn.

"What are you doing outside the cottage?" he allowed his voice to be full of curiosity.

"I was just taking a stroll." she answered candidly.

"You do know it's really late and anyone could've been out here to harm you." she heard what sounded like concern in his soft tone.

"I'm sorry for making you worry." she apologised.

"Come on we have to get you back to the cottage before something else happens." he recommended.

The walk back to the cottage was silent but it was a pleasant and comfortable silence that they were indulging in. It didn't take very long for them to reach the cottage. Her eyes started to feel as if they were about to close on her since she started to feel weary until Johnny began to speak to her.

"It would be wise to stay in the cottage and not go too far away from the cottage Leon wouldn't like it," he advised her.

She nodded in understanding; she may not have known Johnny very well considering the fact that she had only met him today but there was one thing she did know about him it was that he was Leon's best friend and he didn't want any trouble.

She knew she would have to be cautious from now on since she didn't want to end up in another one of those abhorrent situations where she would find herself ensnarled with men like Jeff who would want to take advantage of her.

Not sharing any other rational words she rambled into the cottage again. The darkness that welcomed her gave the inside of the cottage a tedious and gloomy look.

She searched for a light on one of the walls. Evelyn had managed to come across a light switch that was on the wall outside the kitchen. A loud rumble came from her stomach telling her it was empty, she groaned, she couldn't remember when was: the last time: she had eaten today.

Entering the kitchen she admired the white-tiled floor with the burgundy walls, the fridge situated on the left with a freezer beside it on the right. The small sink was across from the fridge, with a dishwasher and an oven. It wasn't so bad, she opened the fridge carefully getting out some fresh cheese and closing the fridge door carefully.
