  Chapter Eleven

Dangerous Schemes

The dawn had brought the sun and the dark clouds that made the morning half dull and half nice. Johnny didn't know which one was worse since his conversation with Leon had not been dropped easily.

He could still memorise their conversation in his mind.

"Johnny I thought we had agreed not to speak of her again." Leon had spoken like the alpha as he was.

"Yeah well, it's not my fault he was the one that started it." Johnny returned with a snort.

"I don't care who started the fight if I had been there I would have finished it." Leon told him.

"He was at the cottage." Johnny softened his tone.

"What was he doing there?" Leon lowered his voice.

"He was talking to Evelyn." Johnny reported.

At the mention of Evelyn he watched as Leon raised an eyebrow at him. A look of suspicion came to his features.

"Why was he talking to Evelyn?" he demanded slowly.

"I don't know. I'm guessing because he thinks she is a danger to the pack." Johnny shrugged.

"The mutt should have better sense than that. What did he say about Aurora that frustrated you so much?" Leon inclined his head to the side.

"I don't really want to talk about it. Please don't make me say it." Johnny lowered his head so he was no longer looking at Leon.

"Don't look away from me. You tell me right now what he said to you. I mean it Johnny." Leon roared.

"I said I don't want to talk about it can't you just leave it be?" this time Johnny raised his voice.

"No I can't cheeky pup!" Leon riposted.

"You're such a scumbag you know that?" Johnny jeered.

"That's why I am the alpha of this pack." Leon laughed harshly.

"He said that you were in love with Aurora. Is it true?" Johnny shouted.

An unreadable expression was on Leon's face by that time. For a moment they stayed silent not saying a word to each other. Both of them breathing heavily, trying to control their tempers.

"Is it true?" Johnny repeated the question.

It was a while until Leon started to speak again looking directly at Johnny's livid gaze.

"Yes I did like her. But only for a short time." he heard Leon admit with ignominy.

"Why did you have to ruin everything?" Johnny clenched his fists.

"Hey it isn't my fault that she's dead. She knew what she was doing and she knew the consequences. Did she care about what Ranfore was going to do to her? No. She didn't, all she cared about was you. She was always disappearing off to somewhere on her days off." Leon conceded.
