Winter Holidays were around the corner. There was only two full days before Christmas and all the students were cheery. The decorations were already up; trees, mistletoe, popcorn garland, and snowmen were scattered around the castle.
Walking through the school grounds to the greenhouses gave a pink tint to the tip of my nose due to the stinging cool in the air. I already regretted wearing a skirt, thinking knee-high socks would suffice. I could see my breath in the brisk air and I shivered, opening the door to the greenhouse.
The door swung open and I sighed of relief when I felt the warm air sink into my skin. I sped to the crowd of bustling students gathering around Professor Sprout. I peered around the many heads until I found my favorite oh-so-familiar brunette boy.
"Morning, darling. I didn't see you at breakfast, where were you?" Cedric asked, putting his arm around my.
"Slept in." I admitted, chuckling. Cedric shook his head and smiled.
"Well, you must be starving then." He replied.
"Just a little, but it's fine."
"Mr Diggory, Ms l/n, do I need to separate you two?" Professor Sprout asked, tapping her foot.
"No, Professor." I answered, quickly. Cedric nodded.
"Good." Sprout said, and turned back to teach the class. I looked over to Cedric and tried my best not to laugh.

I walked down the happy corridors to Potions with Jenn and Olivia. "So, are either of you two staying at Hogwarts over the holidays?" I asked, fiddling with my tie.
"Yes! I'm super excited. Oliver asked me to the Yule Ball a couple of days ago. I can't wait." Olivia explained. The Yule Ball had slipped my mind.
"Oh, well, I'm staying. It took me a long while of begging, but I finally got them to agree. How about you, y/n?" Jenn laughed.
"I've sent a letter to my mother asking. I'm expecting a response today." I replied.
My mother was one of my favorite people in the world. My father, who'd passed away in a car accident, was also an amazing man. My mother remarried another man- my stepfather. He wasn't horrible, but he definitely wasn't the best. He was mean, rude, and narcissistic to say the least.
He was a wizard. A very very rich one. My mother hated to admit it, but she really only married him because she was struggling with money. My real father worked in the Ministry and brought back most of the money in my family.
But, when he died, my mum began to struggle to pay for simple things like paying bills and buying school supplies. She resorted to the only possible option- marrying a man who only liked her for her looks. Correction, a very rich man who only liked her for her looks.
My mother truly deserved better, but she couldn't live without my step-father. Not without her Gringotts vault emptying within a month at least. My stepfather was a Gryffindor, but I could have sworn he was in Slytherin by the would act. I hoped greatly that I wouldn't have to go home.
"Well, I hope you can stay. We'd have so much fun." Jenn exclaimed.
"I hope so too." I said.
I walked into Potions and sat quietly at my spot. Snape strutted into the classroom bringing his gloomy aura along with him.
"Today we will be brewing the Calming Drought. Can anyone tell me what this concoction could be used for?" Snape drawled. A few students raised their hands. I did as well, seeming as though the potion's title was self explanatory.
