I sat in the library, at the very back, listening to the rain pouring down on the windows. It seemed to rain a lot lately, matching exactly how I felt. The second task of the Triwizard Tournament was tomorrow, and all I knew was that it was going to be held by the Black Lake.
I put the book I was reading down, and sighed. I couldn't think of anything else besides Cedric's safety. I pulled out my quill and opened the library book I had taken out, and began to write my name in the card.
"Name. Y/n l/n. Date. February twenty-third." I mumbled to myself, listening to the sound of my quill scratching the paper.
Cedric had fallen asleep while working on an essay and his face rested peacefully on his parchment. I could see some ink had stained his nose, but I just couldn't wake him up. Just as I was about to open my book back up, when someone caught my attention. Or someones...
"Fred, George, hi!" I said.
"Hey, y/n/n, we've been sent, by professor McGonagall, to come and get you." Fred explained. I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Yeah, you're to go to Dumbledore's office immediately." George said.
"Am I- am I in trouble?" I asked, confused.
"Couldn't tell you." Fred shrugged. They both turned around and walked away. I wondered what this could all be about. I wrote a little note to Cedric saying I'd gone to see Dumbledore, then I'd head back to the common room, and left the library in a panic.
Did they hear me and Cedric in the broom closet yesterday? Could it be that quiz I cheated on? All my prayers to Merlin that I don't get in trouble. I thought, speeding through the hallways to Dumbledore's office.
"Sherbet Lemon." I said to the door. It opened up, and when you got to Dumbledore's office I was surprised to see Ron, Hermione, and a little girl with blonde hair.
"Ah, good to see you, y/n." Dumbledore smiled.
"Um, did I do something wrong, sir? Did we do something wrong?" I asked, motioning at the other people in the room.
"Good question, Ms l/n. You may be aware that the second task of the Triwizard Tournament is tomorrow. The task is to swim to the bottom of the Black Lake and retrieve a treasure. More so, something the champions treasure. All of you. Hermione for Viktor, Gabrielle for Fleur, Ron for Harry, and y/n for Cedric. Now, I need all of you to do us a big favour." Dumbledore explained.
"What do we need to do?" Ron asked. Gabrielle nodded.
"We will need you all to be their treasures, of course. You'll be tied up at the bottom of the Black Lake, waiting to be saved by your champion. We will put you all under a sleeping and breathing spell, so you'll be unharmed. You will have no memory of being in the lake. Does that sound okay?" McGonagall asked.
"So, we're their treasure?" Hermione asked. She blushed at the thought of being Krum's treasure. Ron's ears went red in anger.
"Correct, Ms Granger." Dumbledore smiled.
"So, tomorrow during the task, Cedric will swim to the bottom of the lake to save me?" I asked. Dumbledore nodded.
"Anymore questions?"
"Um, isn't there a giant squid down there? And mermaids, and grindylows?" I asked with a shudder.
"Yes, but the champions were chosen for a reason. I'm sure they'll all be able to handle it." Hermione audibly gulped, and I nodded.
"Alright, let's head down to the lake." Dumbledore smiled.
We got down to the Lake, and it was chilly outside. The water was probably freezing. I could feel the cold radiating off of it. I shuddered looking down into the darkness. I couldn't see anything below about a foot in. I didn't even want to think of Cedric swimming through there to find me.
