Day Five | Wednesday | November 29th

Patton sighed as he wordlessly fell down on the couch next to Logan and immediately curled into the other, eager for any sort of friendly or loving touch. Out of all of them, Patton had been the busiest these last couple of days. He'd been wanting to heal Roman and Logan but S.P.O.C.A wasn't letting him quite yet; they said they wanted to examine his powers a bit first. Apparently, there were three other supers in the S.P.O.C.A system that had healing powers, but none of their powers were exactly the same.

One of them took on the injuries of those they healed, another could only heal bleeding injuries, another could heal all injuries including sickness, though it came at a price. S.P.O.C.A wasn't sure how Patton's powers worked, and even after he explained it they weren't quite satisfied, so before he healed them Patton had to go through a couple of tests. They were draining, both mentally and physically. It didn't help that he was worried about Virgil, he hadn't even gotten to visit him yet. The other two had but he had just been too busy.

"Patton," Logan said with a small sigh as he gently nudged Patton away, he was reading through the large folder of papers Nemo had given them the other day and needed his focus, "I'm a bit busy right now, you're in my way."

"Sorry Logie," Patton muttered as he moved off of Logan and sat upright. Hiro whined from the corner they had set his bed in and moved toward Patton, hopping into his lap and letting them hug him instead. "Did Nemo say anything helpful when you and Roman spoke to him today?"

"Not really, though he has set a meeting for us to speak to someone in a few hours. We're supposed to take any questions we have about Virgil and his release to them."

"What's their name?"

"Uhm... I'm not sure, ask Roman, he might remember."

Patton didn't ask Roman, "What about Virgil? Did the kiddo say anything? Maybe we can find a way to see him altogether? I bet I can make a portal into his-"

"Patton please," Logan said, "I'm trying to focus. These aren't easy to comprehend you know. We can't portal to Virgil, we could get in trouble and possibly put his release at risk." He looked briefly up at Patton, "Perhaps you should go help Roman with lunch."

Patton watched Logan for a moment, as if not believing the words that were leaving his mouth, but Logan wasn't the type to joke like this. He wasn't joking. Patton felt small tears fueled by exhaustion and loneliness build in his eyes. He barely managed to stand and leave the room before they spilled, mumbling something about not being hungry and going to take a nap as he did.

He laid down in one of the two rooms the small apartment had to offer, the one he and Logan had taken as their own. The room was small and as average as it could come. Plain gray walls with framed pictures of nature scenes or bustling cities hung on them. Dark wooden furniture, all of it matching the rest of the fittings in the room. A small collection of books had been neatly filed away on a shelf above the standard-sized desks. A dictionary, a young adults trilogy series, a couple of encyclopedias, a few children's books, and several religious texts like the bible or the Quran. Nothing in the room was specific to anybodies likes or dislikes, it was as if it was put together this way so as to please everyone.

And yet Patton was not pleased by it.

In fact, he couldn't help but feel as though this room confined him. He had felt like that the whole time he was here. Confinement. He missed how his room had felt like his own. His room was bright and welcoming, it had a warm environment and everything in there was soft or kind or something. He missed the dozens of pictures the kids at the daycare had made for him, which he had hung on the wall. He missed Virgil's much more evolved and precise art framed next to pictures of him and his famILY. He missed his collection of stuffed animals and arts and crafts supplies. He missed his secret stash of sweets that he would sometimes share with Virgil and Roman, but not Logan because he would just mention how candy wasn't good for you. He missed the smell of cookies that had become permanent thanks to a scented candle his sister had bought him. He missed his room.
