TW: More Remy Angst, Roman's Past
Four Hundred and Thirty-Two Days After Escape | Thursday | October 30th
Remy sighed as he swiped the red icon across the screen and refused another call from Emile before silencing it and turning back to Patton and Logan who were both waiting for him to continue another cooking lesson. He paused though, entering a slight state of confusion, the call had distracted him. "Sorry, what was I saying again?" he asked.
"You were explaining how to make the sauce," Patton answered, a sympathetic and kind look on his face.
"Right, thanks. So-" Remy began, his confidence briefly returning before he was interrupted yet again.
"Remy forgive me if I'm sticking myself where I don't belong-" Logan turned to Patton, "Was that right?" Patton shook his head and the nerd briefly looked disappointed before looking back at Remy, "I believe it would beneficial to you and possibly your mental health if you spoke to your partner"
Behind his sunglasses, his eyes flashed with fear, if they had seen it would have been the only thing to give away his emotion. "I don't think it would," Remy said, "Besides they're probably gonna track it or something if I answer. You guys don't need anymore danger"
"I can easily prevent such an event from occurring," Logan told him.
"Yeah, so you've said," Remy turned back to the bowl filled with the marinade for the food, wanting nothing more than to just continue the lesson already, "Look, I know what you're thinking, alright? But you don't understand. This guy he-he really hurt me all right? I don't know if that was always the plan or what but I don't care."
"Our therapist had Virgil and I reach out to people who hurt us. It helped both of us, maybe it might help you too?" Patton told him.
Remy rolled his eyes, "You don't get it."
"Could you explain it to us then? We are both good listeners," Logan suggested.
Remy looked back at them, his gaze cold and bitter even through the glasses. They both stared right back, Patton giving him a small encouraging smile and Logan's face passive. Remy sighed, why did Virgil's friends have to be this way? "I told him I loved him alright?" Remy said, finally giving in. "And those aren't just words I throw around. My cousin Remus- I know you hate him but I used to really look up to him- he taught me a lot. And one of the things he taught me is to guard my heart, don't let anybody take it away." Remus had most likely been talking literally but Remy had chosen to take it figuratively at the time and ever since
Remy stared back at them, "I only met this guy, cause I was bored. I wasn't expecting to fall in love. But damn did he make it hard not to." A broken smile spread across his face and Remy found himself pulling the sunglasses away from his face. "Aw fuck, as soon as he compared me to that purple chick from Steven Universe, I was gone. And every time we went out for coffee, he'd draw something on our cups, these tiny little doodles that were so adorable, and damn it why can't I just hate him in peace?!"
He was well aware that he was crying again. It happened every time he thought about the last few days too much. He was aware that Logan now looked slightly uncomfortable, he didn't seem like the feelingsy type anyway. And Patton, who was excruciatingly like Emile sometimes, (and yet nothing like him because there was nobody who could ever come to being as perfect and unique as Emile) had lost his smile and was looking at Remy like he was some injured kitten that needed protecting.
"People like us," Remy began again, "Can't let people into our lives so easily, I get that. I never told Emi, what or who I was. I had a password on my phone that he didn't know and I deleted the messages from the contractor before every date. I was careful. For him and for me," Remy let out a shaky breath and let his sunglasses hang on his- Roman's- shirt "He told me he loved me in like, February. So like, awhile after we've been dating. I said it back, cause it was true and I don't do lies."
