*continuing that day*

Mia's P.O.V.

Carl held me close as we cried together and everyone else just ether cried or stayed silent. "Come on lets....lets get you inside." Carl says as he wipes my tears away.

We started to walk to the house with momma, pawpaw,Nanny, and Patricia. "Hey! We've been looking for a little girl who was in that barn the whole time!" Shane yells.

"We didn't know" Pawpaw says.

"Thats bullshit!" Shane yells.

"Why would I leave my best friend in there Shane! I loved Sophia like a sister why would i do that!" I yell in tears.

"Hey look at me." Carl says and makes me face him. "You don't have to explain shit to him we all know you guys didn't know she was in there." Carl tells me and I nod. I looked back at the barn and Carl hugged me tightly.

"They're gone." i cry and Carl kisses my forehead.

"I know. I know kitten I'm sorry." Carl apologized.

"Shane you shouldn't have done that!" Rick says.

"What else was i suppose to do Rick!" Shane yells.

"You killed their family in front of them!" Carl yells.

"Why? Why was Sophia in there?" Shane asks.

"Otis put those people in there! He probably put her in there after she was bit. He thought there was hope okay!He thought we could find a cure maybe at a CDC or something so i went along with it because you never know!" Pawpaw explains as we reach the porch steps.

"Im sorry. Im so sorry I brought you into this." i tell Carl.

"Babygirl none of this is your fault. Shane shouldn't have acted like that." Carl explains.

"Your gonna have to leave now." i whisper. Carl frowns

"No. Im not going anywhere Mia I swear." he says. Shane continued to argue and thats when Pawpaw had enough.

"I want him off my land!" Pawpaw yells.

"Mia go inside." Mom says and I nod.

"Carl you can go with her but i don't want him anywhere next to any of my family." pawpaw says as he points at Shane.

"Come on Mia." Carl says and brings me to my room. I sat on my bed as Carl closed the door to my room.

"Do you need anything?" Carl asks. I shake my head as he sat on my bed. Lori came in to check on us and they started talking as i messed with Carl's hand.

"I was hoping i would be the one to find her." Carl says as he rubs my back with his hand. "I could be a hero. I could make everyone happy." Carl says and kisses the top of my head. "I just feel like I've been letting everyone down." Carl says.

I clutch on to his shirt and look at him "Carl your not letting anyone down" i say. Carl looks at me and nods.

"Yeah, okay." he says. I sit in his lap then lean my back against his stomach.

"Dad did a good thing, I mean I would've shot her too." Carl says. I grab his hands and lace our fingers together. Something was different with Carl.

I mean with what just happened i don't expect him to be happy but he just......I don't know Ill just forget about it for now. Carl sighed and kissed my shoulder.

"I uh....I want you two to rest" Lori says as she stands up.

"Okay." Carl says.

She walked out of the room as i wiped my eyes. "Get some sleep today has been a long day for you." Carl says. I nod and lay down on my bed. Carl does the same and pulls my fluffy blue blanket over us.
