Chapter42-I Cant Do This

Mia's P.O.V.

"Carl please talk to me." I beg Carl as I sit down next to him on his bed. We had a plan for The Governor but Carl didn't exactly like it. I mean I didn't ether because it involved my Momma and Glenn possibly getting hurt but I knew they would be fine. The plan was that Carl, Pawpaw, Nanny, Judith, Hayes and I go to the woods and hide out there while everyone else hid around the prison or in it and they would make a surprise attack on The Governor because we made it look like we left. Carl didn't like that he wont be able "fight for our safety" so he says but I know that thats not the only reason why. He also wanted to try and kill The Governor. Carl was still extremely pissed at The Governor because of what happened to me. Now Carl was sitting on his bed making sure he had everything in his big duffle bag and not saying a word to me or anyone else. "Babe please talk to me." I beg again as I take Carl's hand into mine. Carl yanks it away "Just go pack." Carl sighs. I frown then nod "Okay." I say and kiss Carl's cheek. He smiles at me lightly and I go to my room to finish my packing. When I was done I walked back to Carl's cell to see him looking at the picture we got of his family only a few days ago. He rubbed his thumb over the framed picture as I quietly walked into the cell. He was sorta turned so he didn't notice me until I went up behind him and let my hands slide down his chest. Carl tensed up a little then calmed down once he realized it was me. "You have such a beautiful family." I whisper to him as I kiss Carl's neck. He sighs as he picks up the picture. I wrap my arms around Carl's neck and lay my head on his back. Carl places his hands on top of mine. "Done packing?" I ask. Carl nods "You?" Carl asks me and I nod too. "Smile sheriff. You have a beautiful smile that I want to see." I tell Carl as I walk to the front of him. Carl wraps his arms around my waist and laid his chin on my stomach so he was looking up at me. I smile at Carl "Everything will be okay." I tell Carl. Carl sighs "Yeah....whatever..." I frown at Carl. Carl I pulled away from me then reached his hand in his bag and pulled out the star badge that use to be pinned onto Carl's hat. He ran his fingers over it then shoved it in his pocket. Carl zipped his bag up, stood up, grabbed his gun, then his hat. He threw his bag over his shoulder and placed his hat on his head "Get your stuff." is all he said to me. "Carl can we talk? Please?" I beg. "What the hell is there to talk about?" Carl snaps at me
"Nothing! Now get your shit so we can get this over with!" Carl says raising his voice at me. I frown "Im just trying to help asshole." I say then run to my cell. Carl sighs as I leave. "Hayes I don't fucking care! You people all just need to get off my god damn back!" I hear Carl shout. I clenched my fist. I about had enough of this boys attitude. I run out of my cell and into the hall where Hayes and Carl were. "What the hell did you say Hayes?" I ask quickly anger able to be heard in my voice. "I didn't do shit! All I said was Mia is just trying to make sure your okay Carl. We just want you safe then he started yelling at me." Hayes yells. I look at Carl who was starring at the ground. I grab Carl's
face with one hand "Look at me." I growl at him. Carl looks at me "Now you listen and you listen good. This attitude has to stop! We are just trying to make you feel better. Your not gonna yell at anyone for them trying to help you. Now I don't know what happened to my sweet Carl but I want him back now." I hiss. Carl nods slowly the look of. guilt in his eyes. I was so feed up with this boy. I push Carl
away from me as he tries to hug me "Don't touch me." I shake my head. Carl looks at me like his heart broke into a million pieces at my words. "Baby.." he croaks as I walk into my cell. I grab my bag and throw it over my shoulders. I walk past Carl and Hayes. Carl grabs my hands and I automatically start to try pulling it away. "Mia stop!" Carl yells with tears in his eyes. "No you asshole let me go!I have to go get your sister." I say. "Mia I'm sorry Im just pissed okay!" Carl tell me. "So you take it out on everyone else and you won't speak to me?" I ask in a hurt tone. Carl shakes his head "Im....Im sorry. Please don't be mad at me. I just want you next to me right now" Carl whimpered. I shake my head"I gotta go get Judith." i tell Carl. "Yeah. You do that." Carl says disappointed that I didn't cave in for him. He nods as he takes my bag and places it on his shoulder. We walked down stairs and I get Judith and her things. We then proceed to walk to the car and put our things in it. "Carl" Rick says as Carl went to put his stuff in the trunk. Rick grabbed Carl's arm and Carl yanked it away "Don't touch me!"
He growls. God I hate pissed Carl. I held Judith who was wrapped in a big fuzzy blanket to keep her warm. She was laying down in my arms making some weird noises. I giggle at her as Carl, Nanny, and Hayes were helping get everyone's things in the car. I was freezing in Carl's jacket or well now its my jacket but it was once Carl's till he gave it to me. Momma walked over to me. "You got your vest on and gun on you?" Momma asks. I nod as Momma hugs me from the side so she wouldn't crush Judith. "Yes Ma'am." I say as I hug her back. Glenn walks up to us and I hug him too "Be safe. I love y'all." I say. Momma nods with a smile "We love you too princess." Glenn says with a smile as he kisses my forehead. Glenn brought me towards Rick "Ive never seen Carl so mad. Not even for Lori." Glenn whispers. I look over at Carl to see he was looking at me out of the corner of his eye. "I know. The poor baby" I whisper. "What happened between you two?" Glenn asks. "He was being an ass and I got mad because me and Hayes were just trying to help him." I sigh. Carl flips me off "Go ahead talk shit about me behind my back. I feel the fucking love I should from my girlfriend! The person I thought loved me! I expect it from them but you too Mia?" Carl yells at me. That made me the pissed one now. "Um....Im just gonna take Judith while Rick works on the car." Glenn says as he takes Judith. I walk over to Carl and slap him across the face "You want me to tell you the truth Carl. Your mother would be ashamed of you, she probably hates you all the mean things you told her before she died. Hell I would hate you." I say not even thinking "Mia don't your not gonna help the situatio-" i cut Hayes off "Your a disgrace Carl Grimes. We were only saying how you were mad thats it! You really think I would go and bash the person I love behind their back?" I ask. I look at Carl "Or at at least I thought I did love." I change my words. Carl's head snapped up "What do you.....what do you mean? You love me. Y-You told me a million times ye-yesterday." Carl say quickly. His eyes start to get watery "You love me!" Carl yells making everyone look at us.I started to get tears in my eyes. Of course I loved Carl but i didn't want to be with this Carl. The jerk who didn't give a shit about anyones feelings but his. Carl started breathing heavily and he ran his hands through his hair and started pacing back and forth. "You love me Mia you always have from the first day we meet!" Carl yells. Tears started coming from Carl's eyes. Carl grabs my shoulders "Tell me you still love me Mia!" Carl yells. I started crying myself "Carl stop. I don't want to do this right now." I whimper. Carl gripped my shoulders harder digging his nails into them"Carl stop! That hurts!" I cry. Hayes pushes Carl away from me and Carl falls to the floor. Hayes and Nanny run over to me "Im...Im fine." i say as I push them away from me and run over to Carl who had his knees pulled up to his chest. He was sobbing as he rocked back and forth. I sat down besides Carl and pulled him towards. "I love you Mia. I love you so much. Why don't you love me anymore?" Carl sobs. I shake my head "I still love you Carl. I love you so much baby I just don't want you like this. Being a jerk to everyone when were only trying to help. We weren't saying anything bad about you. We were just saying how you were obviously mad. I was hoping Rick would try and fix it" i tell Carl as he wraps his arms around my waist. Carl continued to cry and I rocked back and forth with him. "D-Did I hurt you?" Carl asks as he looks at my shoulder. I frown as Carl pulls my shirt and jacket down a little "Y-You have a small bruise forming." Carl frowned and started to cry more. "Shhh its okay baby." I whisper as Carl closes his eyes. Everyone was watching me and the broken mad, sad ,boy. "Come on. Stop crying we can talk about all this later." I tell Carl. "No! I don't want to talk about it at all because you'll just end up leaving me!" Carl cries. I kiss Carl's lips "Im not gonna leave. Im always gonna be with you." I tell Carl. That was a fact. No matter what I will always be with Carl. No matter what. If we break up I still want to be with him so I'm gonna stay his close friend. "Now wipe your tears my handsome boy. We have to help save our family" Carl sat up and wiped his tears with a nod "You still love me right?" Carl asks. I nod "Of course" I say. Carl shakes his head "No you can't just say of course. I wanna hear the words come out of your mouth." Carl tell me. I rub my thumb over Carl's cheek "I love you so much Carl Grimes and I always will." I tell Carl and kiss his lips. I help Carl stand up as he sniffles and take Judith back from Glenn. Carl quickly got in the car and I slid in next to him. "Are you okay baby?" I ask Carl as I move his hair out of his face. Carl nods "Im okay now." I nod and kiss Carl's cheek. Everyone else got in the car and Pawpaw drove into the woods where we could still see the prison but we were far enough to where no one knew we were there. We all got out of the car. Carl was silent so I gave Judith to Beth and pulled Carl towards me. I placed Carl's hands on my hips and my hands up Carl's shirt. Carl closes his eyes and sighs as he leans his head against the tree that was behind him. I kiss Carl's lips as I rubbed my hands up and down Carl's chest and stomach. "Talk to me baby." I whisper to Carl. Carl shakes his head "I'm so sorry Mia." He whispers. I shake my head "Carl you know I always forgive you for things you do when your mad, and you were mad. Your forgiven because people do stupid things when ever they are mad." I tell him. Carl rubs little circles on my hips with his thumbs. He attaches his lips to my neck and leaves soft little kissed all over it. I clutch onto the back of Carl's neck. "Carl.." I giggle "Come on we have to watch" I say. Carl nods as I quickly go back and take Judith. I bring her over to Carl and Carl smiles at her. We soon heard sirens, gun shoots, and yelling. "I guess it's going down." I say. Carl laughs slightly "Guess so." Carl says. It soon all stopped and you could see The Governor's people and him driving away. "We did it! We get to stay!" I say excitedly. Carl smiles "Yeah we do." Carl kisses my forehead. Footsteps were able to be heard. Carl pulled out his gun and aimed it in the direction it came from. A boy who looked a year or two years younger then me and Carl. He was from WoodBury. "Woah woah woah dont shoot!" the boy says as Carl pushes me behind him. Hayes holds up his gun and points it at the boy too. "Drop the weapon." Hayes says. "Sure here take it." The boy says as he goes to give it to Carl. Carl looked scared like he didn't know what to do. "Carl just take it and bring him to your dad." I say. "He's an innocent boy Carl." I tell Carl. Carl didn't move he just stared at the boy and thats when it happened. Carl shot the boy. The innocent boy that didn't want to harm us what so ever. "Carl what the hell!" I yell as I back away from Carl. The boy fell to the ground and blood poured out of his head. I stared at the boy shocked and frightened. I wanted to cry so bad at that point. My boyfriend just killed an innocent boy for no reason. My boyfriend is a killer. Carl went to touch me "No!" I yell as I back away from him. Nanny pulled me into her arms as I started to shake from fear "He killed him! He wasn't going to hurt us but he still killed him!" I cry and Hayes rubs my back with his hand. "M-Mia..." Carl stutters my name. I pulled Judith closer to my chest. "No! Your a monster! A sick sick monster! He was an innocent boy!" I yell as tears rolled down my cheeks. "Mia he... he couldve been bad! He could've killed us!" Carl says with tears in his eyes. "He was giving his gun to you!" I yell. Carl tries to pull me in for a hug back I push him away as I still shook "Don you dare come near me and don't you dare come near this this baby until your Dad says you can." I growl. "We have to go you can discuss this later." Pawpaw says. Carl started crying "I just wanted to protect you." He cries. "By killing an innocent child!" I yell at Carl. "He was from fucking WoodBury Mia!" Carl yells at me. Hayes grabs Carl "J-Just get in the car Carl." Hayes says. Carl gets in the car and Hayes looks at me "He's not the same." I shake my head as tears roll down my cheeks "I cant do this anymore." I whimper. Hayes shakes his head "He killed someone." Hayes whispers as he rubs his hands over his face "Fuck. What......what are we gonna do he killed an innocent boy." Hayes croaks. Nanny shrugs as she strokes my hair "We tell Rick thats all we can do" She says. I shake my head "I cant be with him anymore. I cant do this anymore." I cry. Hayes frowns "Ill sit next to him so you dint have to then." Hayes gets in the car and I get in next to him. Carl looked at me with red puffy eye. "Mia...baby." Carl called out to me. I shake my head as I look away. "Are you scared of him?" Hayes whispers to me. I shrug "A little." I whisper back. "Hayes he shot a boy for no absolute reason at all! What is happening to my baby?" I ask in a hushed tone so Carl couldn't hear. Hayes sighs "I wish I knew Mia" Hayes whispers. "But he loves you so much. I want you to know that. Your gonna kill him by breaking up with him." Hayes continues to whisper. "Im not breaking up with him I just need a break from all this mess and he needs to fix himself. We both need time to think. Time to repair ourselves." I whisper as Judith grabs my finger. I smile at her through my tears as we pull up to the prison. "Mia please talk to me." Carl begs as I step out of the car and ran inside with Judith "Mia what happened? Why are you crying?" Rick asks as he hugs me l. "Is everyone okay?" Rick asked as I cried. "Carl shot a little boy for no reason Rick." I cry. Rick looks at me "What?" He asks. Carl walks in "I did my job I took out one of The Governor's soldiers! Thats it! I thought he was going to hurt us!" Carl defends himself. "He was a little boy who was giving you his gun!" I yell. "He was kid running away who stumbled across us afraid." Pawpaw says. "No he drew on us!" Carl yells. Hayes walks in "Carl what are you-" Rick cuts Hayes off "You did the right thing since he drew on ya'll." Rick says. Hayes starts yelling "Drew on us bullshit! He didnt draw on us! He was trying to give his gun to Carl and Carl just shot him in front of all of us! Scared the crap out of Mia and now shes a crying mess because she watched a young child be killed by the person she loves!" Hayes yells. Carl looks at me "Your scared?" Carl asks. I didn't answer "Im going with you if you go to WoodBury. I did my job and proved myself. Im going." Carl says then looks at me "And you...." Carl pauses as he points at me. He shakes his head. Thats when I lost it and let everything out."I cant do this anymore Carl! I just cant! You get pissed at everyone over here for stupid things! The only people you treat good is me and my family! You only treat my family good because you know if you don't they'll take me away! You cant even show your own god damn father some respect! He is trying to keep us safe Carl! And what you did today, you killed a child Carl! An innocent little child!" I yell at him in tears. Judith started crying and Rick took her from me "Oh babygirl I'm sorry." I say crying more as I stroked the little bit of hair Judith had. Everyone looked at me and Carl. My breathing started to increase and I ran to my room while crying. "Mia!" Rick yells as he runs after me. Pawpaw did the same "What happened out their you and Carl have different stories why?" Rick asked me. Hayes ran into the room with Nanny "The boy ran in front of us and Carl raised his gun. Hayes told the boy to put the gun down so the boy told Carl to take it. As he was going to give it to Carl Carl just shot him dead in the head." I cried. "She isn't lying Uncle Rick. Carl's changed he because of everything that has happened in the past month he isn't..... he just wants to kill anyone who isn't our family because he thinks they're all threats." Hayes says. Carl runs into the room with a bag of things and looks at me. He had tears running down his face. "Since were o-over I brought your th-things" Carl says as everyone starts to leave the cell "Hayes!" I call out quickly "Me and Beth are right out here just call if you need anything." I hear Hayes yell from out side my cell. Carl handed me the bag. "You need to go now." I tell Carl. He shakes his head "Mia please I don't want to lose my best friend." Carl cries. "Carl you lost her a long time ago." I tell him. Carl shakes his head "No I didn't your still here." Carl says. "Yes but I'm not the Mia I was before this started! Im not even the Mia I was at the farm. Now Im someone......someone different." I say. Carl kneels down in front of me "Don't leave me. I love you and you love me" Carl says. "Carl I cant stay" I shake my head. "Why? Why cant you stay?" Carl asks. "Because I cant Carl! It's official you've changed and I cant stay with you because of the person that you have changed into!" I yell at Carl. Carl looked at me hurt "but I still love you." Carl says. "Yes and I love you but....Carl i cant break up with you." I tell him. Carl sighed in relief "But I think if we had a little break that would be good." I tell Carl. He looks at me as his name was called by Rick "I think were about to be leaving for WoodBury." Carl tells me. "I want to come wait with you." I say. "Why do you still want to be around me?" Carl asks. "Because I love you still." I kiss Carl's cheek. Carl smiled "Im gonna miss that." he whispers. I frown as we walk outside. Carl leaned against one of the tables and I sat down on the top of it next to Carl. "So were just gonna take a break. Clear our heads, figure things out, then try again?" Carl asks. I nod "Thats the plan baby boy." I nod. "When are we starting this?" Carl asks."Tonight I guess." I sigh as Rick walked towards us. Carl looked down at the floor and Rick kneeled down in front of Carl so he had to look at him. "Hershel, Mia, and Hayes told me about the boy you shot." Rick says. Carl nods "He had a gun." Carl says. Rick nods "Was he handing it over?" Rick ask. I look at Carl "He had just attacked us I wanted to keep the girls safe." Carl explains. Rick nods "Yes yes he had and thats great you want to protect the girls" Rick pauses "But was he handing it over?" Rick asks. Carl sighs "I couldn't take the chance. I was afraid something would happen and he would take Mia and Judith. I didnt kill the walker that killed Dale look what happened." Carl says. "That is not the same thing!" Rick says. "You didn't kill Andrew and look where Mom is! You were in the room with The Governor and you let him go now Merle is dead. I did what I had to do." Carl says. He stands up "Now go so he doesn't kill anymore of us." Carl says then walks away. I was shocked by every word Carl said. The sound of Carl's sheriff's pin hitting the floor made me loon at the ground. Carl had dropped it at his dads feet. I rubbed my hands over my face "This is why I cant do this." I whisper with a sigh. "We need everyones help right now. D-Do you mind watching Judith?" Rick asks. I shake my head "not at all Ill keep an eye on her." Rick nods and I walk inside of the prison. Carl was grabbing his clothes from my cell "Friends can have sleepovers." I whisper. Carl looks at me and shakes my head "It'll be too painful because i won't be able to hold you." Carl tells me. I nod with a frown as I go lay down in my cell. I grab the teddy bear Carl gave me for my birthday last time I celebrated it which was when Rick was in the hospital in a coma. I stayed laying there for a while till I feel asleep. I woke up to Carl shaking me the next morning. "What?" I ask. "Im moving in here with you." Carl tells me as he sets his stuff down "Why?" I ask. "Because were taking a break but im still technically your boyfriend and Im not having some boy from WoodBury sleep in the same cell as my girlfriend." Carl says. "Wait why would some boy from WoodBury sleep in my cell?" I ask. "Dad took the people from WoodBury in and they will be living with us now." Carl tells me as I stand up. "No looking at girls." I remind Carl. "Same goes to you for guys." Carl says. Carl brought me outside as all the WoodBury people were going inside. "Promise you wont leave me for one of these douche bags." Carl tells me as we watch the people go inside. "I promise mo matter how long were on this break I wont leave you for any of these douche bags." I tell Carl. "Promise me you wont leave me for one of these dumb bitches." Carl smiles "I promise I wont leave you for one of these dumb bitches Mia." Thats how i knew this break was going to be a good thing for us. We both got to clear our minds and just think about ourselves for a little while but still got to be with each other. I knew Carl would be loyal and keep his word about not leaving me and I would most definitely keep my word. Hopefully during this break Carl will change back to my sweet loving Carl and there will be no more jerky Carl.
