Chapter 7 | on the pier

A couple days after meeting the town

Y/n woke up late at around 9:30 am that day.

She spent the night clearing out some trees and organizing all her clothes.

Rain poured on her window, making small tapping noises for each drop.

Y/n stared out her side window by her bed and sighed before stretching out of bed with a big yawn.

She decided that she'd go out to fish for some money that day.

Fishing had been a really great money maker from what Y/n had experienced.

She was shocked to see so much money in an envelope from Lewis just from a couple fish.

Y/n liked fishing.

Maybe because she used to fish with Willy as a kid...

When gifted the fishing rod, Y/n was also told a story by Willy.

She used to fish with him as a kid but Sam and Alex found out about the rod and the the three mischiefs used it to do all sorts of damage to the towns people.

Y/n's grandpa took the rod away for a short while.

He meant to give it back.. but before he could, Y/n was already on the drive back home to the city.

Of course she didn't remember it at all..

She really thought that all her memories would come back quickly..

With a sigh, Y/n changed into her work clothes.

Being overalls and a t-shirt, and walked out to her porch.

In her vision, Y/n had only seen the puddle at the end porch stairs.

She wore a goofy grin on her face when jumping down into it at full speed.

Though it wasn't a great idea..

Y/n slipped immediately, falling back and hitting her head on the stairs.

She breathed in sharply before opening her eyes to stare at the grey covered sky.

Only when looking to her doors did she realize Marnie had been standing there the entire time.

The older woman snickered softly and Y/n stood up with cheeks of red.

Her hands found itself rubbing the nape of her neck anxiously.

"H-how long..? Um- I-I'm sorry... I swear I'm not a child, I- I just thought-"

"Its fine Y/n! Rainy days can be fun! Don't you worry about it" Marnie reassured her, gently dusting off a leaf from her neighbour's shoulder.

Y/n stared for a moment before smiling softly.

She was grateful to have neighbours so kind.

"Anyways!" Marnie clapped her hands together, grinning up at the young adult.

Yoba did Marnies heart melt at how much her old neighbours granddaughter grow.

Y/n was short but she was definitely taller than Marnie and a few others in town.

"You see this cat here?" Marnie moved aside to show a ginger Tom.

It laid on its back, nuzzling itself to the porch floors.

Y/n smiled and kneeled down, petting the fluffy thing.

"Yes I do see this cat"

"I found it sitting at the entrance of your farm, I think it's a stray.. poor little thing.." Marnie sighed with a slight frown, the Tom licks Y/n's hand.
