Summer 1 // 9:40 AM

On the first day of summer, Y/n saved money from the last of her spring harvest and it was time to give herself a break.

Luckily, she didn't have to worry about summer seeds being sold out for the season since Pierre's must've been closed considering he was probably busy catching some waves with the rest of the town for a beach day.

Y/n thought the flower dance would be bad for her self-deprecating insecurities, but beach day would be much worse. Having forgotten her wallet the time she'd gone to the mall with Haley, Abigail, Maru, Sebastian, Alex and Sam, Haley had paid for her swimsuit. The only issue Y/n had with this was that Haley chose what she was going to wear.

Staring at herself in her mirror, Y/n felt uncomfortable in her skin as she analyzed the black two-piece.

Luckily for her, she'd taken the time the night before to go through all her unopened boxes. Including the ones with clothing, she hasn't worn since she sauntered through the streets of Zuzu city.

Digging through the box, Y/n pulls out a pair of black denim shorts and an oversized black see-through button-down T-shirt. It hung loosely over her shoulders, the perfect beach day outfit she wouldn't feel too exposed in when out of water.

Maybe if she tried hard enough, she could convince one of her friends to play mermaids with her so she would have to spend more time hiding in the water.

Y/n snickered to herself at the thought, deeply concerned for her mental age as she determines who was cool enough to hang with her depending on who agreed with her. Sure, most of her useless thoughts were mere jokes. But she couldn't help but wonder who truly would be stupid enough to 'play mermaids' with her.

Dragging her feet as she walks, Y/n is mentally preparing for the stares.

She would dread this day like she did the flower dance, if only it wasn't for the hot weather. For once, she was looking forward to showing a little skin. After all, Y/n was human. It was only normal her skin needed breathing every once in a while. Especially in temperatures so heated that her watering can felt like fire at her fingertips.

The sun was scorching against her skin, Y/n was grateful for the canopy of trees that reached over her head as she treads down the path towards the town.

By the time she reaches the open, she's looking down to keep from catching the visions glare of the sun in her eyes. Only when she hears a whistle does she glance up.

In the distance by Pierre's, Robin is catcalling the poor farmer. Maru and Sebastian are at her side, but they begin to hide behind her, embarrassed for the scene she just caused. Sebastian elbows her gently, as a warning to cut it out.

Instead, Robin kicks her son in return. For she was shorter than he was, far shorter. Sebastian tries to dodge, bumping into his half-sister. She holds him up as he glared at his mother with irritation and embarrassment for her immaturity.

"Quit being so shy- Y/n! Looking good hon'!"

Maru and Sebastian walk slowly behind her, hiding their faces as Y/n's reddens.

"Aha... t-thanks Robin. I was a little self-conscious, to be honest, but with the shorts and button up I think I'm okay." She rubs the nape of her neck, sheepish as Robin circles around her, studying the bathing suit she was wearing.

She tries to turn to see her, but Robin stops her when she grabs onto her shoulders and faces her forward again, still analyzing the poor farmer. Sebastian is now kneeling on the floor, staring at the ground with his head between his knees, wishing he was elsewhere.
