As Lewis finished his announcement, Y/n stood up in a hurry to get away from Sebastian.
She didn't need any further embarrassment around him after the disaster that just occurred.
"Let's go!" Abby giggled, pulling her to the middle of town.
Y/n now had her sketchbook back in her pockets, the sight of the stupid thing in her possession comforting her the more it stayed that way.
When gathering around Lewis, Y/n scouted through the other participants, smiling when seeing just how excited Jas and Vincent were, bouncing in place like rabbits who'd seen the light of spring for the first time in ages.
"Calm down now kiddos, You're going to need all your energy if you hope to find the most eggs and take home the exclusive prize" Lewis chuckled.
The corners of his eyes produced wrinkles when he smiled, a symbol of his aging physique.
The two kids had eventually stopped bouncing, frequently glancing towards one another with competitive eyes.
The whole town went silent.
Y/n took the settlement to look around at the clearing.
For a split second, she'd locked eyes with no one none other than Sebastian McCarthy himself.
He watched her closely, analyzing the anxious fidgeting of her hands the more he stared.
He knew himself he had some affect over her, a smile grew on his face the more he took the realization to his hidden confidence Sebastian never knew he had.
"Now.. is everyone ready?" Lewis asked, his eyes darting from each contestant.
Y/n hadn't noticed, but her leg bounced slightly, a sign of her excitement building the more Lewis had kept everybody waiting.
She shook her head and planted her feet to the ground, suppressing the irritating little stim she had.
It was a habit formed through school, hardly being able to leave her spot during lessons had her antsy, feeling the need to move around in order to keep herself from falling asleep, she'd start bouncing her leg, or crossing them in her seat.
Often the teachers would tell her to sit still after hours of listening to her chair creak against the floorboards.
She'd only complain to them about how if they don't make anything exciting for the teens, how would the they expect her to sit still in one spot and listen any further.
Another second, another painfully long silence.
The more the town waited, the wider Lewis' grin grew on his cheeks.
"Let the egg hunt begin!"
With the mayors permission, the competitors scattered throughout town, Y/n immediately running towards Sam and Haley's backyard.
During the silence Lewis had created, Y/n scanned all the potential areas the eggs could be and ran faster than she ever did.
Her heart was beating out her chest, it felt like one of her old volleyball games she'd played in, in high school.
The whistle blew soon enough and Y/n stopped in her tracks behind Pierre's little stand up shop.
Pierre smiled at her as she climbs over the counter and towards Lewis where everyone was gathering at.
"Wow, look at all those eggs!" Lewis muses, his hands on his hips.
Y/n, Abby and Sam shared their own conversations together as they pointed out the designs on the eggs they'd all collected.
