The next day // 4:10 AM

Sebastian woke up with aching throughout his entire body. Mornings were never enjoyable for him, especially when it was to the knock of someone at his bedroom door at four in the morning.

Surely he had been going insane. Maybe his ears picked up his mother's early business he never cared enough for to understand, either way, he'd only fallen asleep a few minutes ago, so he wasn't about to get up just to ruin his sleeping schedule once again.

Just then, another beat came knocking at his door and Sebastian pulled the covers over his head with a groan. It was his mother for sure... but what did she want from him? What had she needed him for so urgently that she was at his door at such a ridiculous time?

When the third set of knocks came, Sebastian pushed himself from his bed and trudged towards the door. His feet were bare against the cold wooden flooring and he choked back a hiss. There was a shiver that run up his spine, his arms like the air conditioning in the house wished past him.

He cursed the hot spring weather. Because of the heating temperatures, his entire family had wanted the air conditioning on at all times. They barely even thought of how freezing he must've been down in the basement.

Usually, Sebastian liked or hadn't cared for the cold. But in the depths of his room, it was hardly enjoyable for him. This time instead of comfort, the freezing temperatures only brought him pure discomfort, plainly miserable.

Turning the knob, Sebastian looked through the crack to see his smiling mother, awake and ready for the day. Behind her, Sebastian could see the yellow dimmed lights of the rest of his house and he squinted when his eyes adjusted poorly to its bright glare.

"I'm heading off for Y/n's. I just thought maybe you'd like to know in case there was anything you wanted to tell her. Or anything you don't want me to say to her to embarrass you or something." Robin spoke quietly at a level Sebastian was grateful she had the capabilities of having.

He thanked his mother mentally for her consideration. She was usually nosy, sometimes she crossed lines she wasn't meant to... so knowing she was trying her best to be respectful of her sons' boundaries, sent Sebastian a melting feeling. He disliked his mother sometimes, but he sure did love her a lot. He knew she had the habit of overthinking at times, that is why she was at his door at such a time. Most likely at least...

Sebastian watched her nervous habits, her fingers fidgeting and her smile twitching. A silent scoff left his lips as he realized where his manners came from and he shut the door on her once again.

"I- Sebastian!? hon! I really don't wanna overstep anything-" Robin's voice yelled out through his door and he opened it quickly to walk out with his hoodie on and his hands in his pockets, fidgeting with the items inside them; cigarettes, his lighter, his phone.

When reaching the top of the stairs, he looked down at his mother's paralyzed figure. "I'll just go with you, mom," confirmed Sebastian. Still, she remained at the bottom of the steps, shifting her weight to another foot. "I... I think I upset Y/n yesterday. I want to talk to her myself. If that's okay with you..."

Robin stared with wonder. Confrontation and communication was never an easy thing for Sebastian. It was a change. But it was a good one. She was glad he was learning how to overcome his anxieties, as was she. They were in it together. Mother and son.
