George was heading back to Zuzu city. He's packing his belongings into his trunk, Y/n right behind him, carrying his book bag.

She struggles to carry it a bit, despite its small and thin appearance, it was heavy as if her father had been carrying tons of rocks all day.

Once he finishes, they look at each other sadly, forgetting that Robin and Sebastian are right behind them. Y/n had fun being around her father for the last couple of days. They bonded over little things Y/n didn't think he'd be interested in. Anime, baby fever, gardening, the earth, space, the ocean, and more. She found herself ranting to him about these things as he sat patiently waiting for his turn to speak with a wide little grin on his face.

"I'll text you about the trip to Gotoro sometime, ok Mai?" George presses a kiss onto her head, his lips lingering before he pulls away.

Y/n bows her head slightly with respect, trying not to frown. Her face is contorted, stone cold while her hands begin to fidget, a tight grip on his coat sleeve.

"Come back soon." She whispers, avoiding eye contact as she's not quite used to the feeling of opening up to her father.

Her heart thrums as he pulls her into his chest, a gentle hand running his fingers through her hair.

"Of course."

She didn't think it could be possible to have this much closure with him although they haven't spoken about the obvious. It still weighs on her shoulders that she doesn't have enough time to properly speak with him about it, not having the courage to speak about it in the first place.

She wishes she did, so then she wouldn't have to deal with more of the weight.

But as her father steps into his car, a content look on his face. She feels that it'll be okay as long as he's there waiting to help her carry the years of anguish.

Before he leaves, revving the engine, he rolls his window down, a lazy grin plastered on his face which causes the mole above his lip to rise. The acne scars on his cheeks and nose are evident when the sun falls over him. Hidden among them, little freckles. "And while I'm gone, find yourself a boyfriend or a girlfriend or a significant other so you're not so alone in that farmhouse." He jokes, snorting.

"I can only wish, dad."

He scoffs at her, rolling his eyes as he puts his handle into drive.

"Cya kid."

He leaves his hand hanging out the window, waving with simply two fingers until he was far enough that he was just a speck in the road.

Robin has a hand on Y/n's shoulder, her index finger lifting and dropping onto the strap of her overalls, tapping her lightly for attention.

"You said you were heading to Pierre's as well?" She continues their conversation from before her father left.

It takes Y/n a millisecond to realize what she said, cogs turning in her head till the light finally turned on.

"Yes! I was gonna go buy seeds for the new season!"

Her body springs into action, her peace of having a break for a few hours having gone away in only seconds. She's back on her toes, fingers gripping onto her bag as she swings it over her shoulders. And her energy was restored from the long talk she had with her father before, although it wasn't fully replenished.

Luckily, she prepared some field snacks in the small pocket of her backpack in case she began to feel sluggish.

"You coming by later!?" Sebastian calls. She turns on her heel, hand grazing over the old wood of the fence. With each step she takes, her hair bounces with the wind, leaves fall overhead. He watches earnestly, waiting for her.
