Kíli x gn!reader

Prompt: "You're an idiot." "But you love me."

Warnings: Kíli in love with pie - and a crappy cliché ending, I'm sorry in advance!

"Excuse me!" you repeated over and over again, squeezing your way through the people of Dale.

It was an awful idea leaving the shop at this hour, while the market was still filled with people trying to find last minute gifts or food before they went home.

But it was a special day, it was your six months courtship anniversary with Kíli and as a surprise, you were going to make his favorite dessert, almond cinnamon pie. It was a family recipe and was saved only for special occasions since almonds and cinnamon were rather expensive.

So you had to leave work earlier than usual, the only thought on your mind getting home before Kíli would.

He'd let you know he would come around supper time, when he was done 'following his brother's royal buttocks all day' as he had so colourfully described.

You'd refrained from answering that his own buttocks were as royal as his brother's - but a lot firmer, thank Mahal for that.

Taking a short cut, you disappeared between two market stalls and took the back alley of one of the town's pubs. Not the most safe route, especially since you were on your own.

Kíli would throw a fit if he knew, he had told you countless times you should be more careful and you had answered every single time that you were more than capable of defending yourself.
His many pleas to make you relocate to the mountain fell in deaf ears too. There was no way you were going to leave Dale behind. Not until the wedding at least.

You finally reached your house, and shedded your cloak and shoes.

"Surprise!"

A not so elegant shriek escaped your throat and you whirled around, only to be almost knocked over by Kíli who took you in his arms.

"Nice to see you too," you laughed. "You're early."

He hugged you even tighter. "I missed you," he murmured into your neck, leaving butterfly kisses.

"Kíli, we saw each other this morning. And stop it, that tickles!"
"That's not what you said yesterday," he smirked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"You're an idiot."

Kíli laughed, booping your nose. "But you love me, right?"
"Unfortunately, it's a burden I must bear."

You swapped his hand away playfully, barely containing your own laughter.
"And you ruined my surprise," you pouted.

"You got me a surprise?"

His face splitting grin made your heart melt. He looked so much younger when he smiled like that, the pure joy and happiness written all over his face.

"Well, I was going to make you your favorite dessert-"
"Almond cinnamon pie? No way!"
"But... since you're here already, it's not a surprise anymore, is it?"

Kíli slumped down on a chair.

"You know how much I love that pie. Almost as much as I love you."

He threw in his puppy eyes for good measure. Your biggest weakness.

"Then maybe you should marry the pie instead," you smirked, trying to keep your composure.
He grabbed your arm and pulled you into his lap, immediately locking his arms around you.

"I think I'd still rather marry you, because then I have you and all the pies I want," he whispered and pressed his lips on yours before you could protest.

You lost yourself in his kiss for a few moments before you pulled away.

"I have an idea. We can still make the pie together? If you want to help?"

His eyes lit up.
"Or we can make one each? Then we'll have two pies!"

You laughed again, smacking his chest. "I was right before, you are an idiot."

"But at least I'm your idiot."
