Howling Wolf

Chapter 8: The Fight

Smokey POV

I woke up to see Ocean and Gold next to each other and Willow and Flame to. I smiled to myself and thought we did the right thing seeing that they were so happy. I slowly got up so I won't wake them and walked out of the den and stretched. I saw Moonlight organizing patrols around the borders and hunting patrols too. Suddenly they heard a blood curdling shriek and he saw Raven rush through the barrier blood running down her black body. What happened asked Moonlight. F.. Fire Tribe is coming to the camp. With that I raced back in the apprentice den and woke up the rest and told them what happened. They heard trampling paw steps nearing. He raced outside to see lots of wolfs with sturdy bodies racing into camp. Attack came Moonlights call as he landed on a wolfs back. I raced into the fray. I jumped onto a grey wolfs back who only looked about my age. He swiped for my head I ducked and rammed him into another wolf I don't recognize that had a black pelt. I then felt something on my back. On instinct I rolled and felt the other wolf on my back get flatten. When I turn around I see that it was a muscular male with a  dark brown coat and light yellow eyes staring at me. I flatted my ears and snarled at him. He suddenly raced up and try to ram me but I went under him and rammed my claws into his soft underbelly. He howled and I got back to my paws and jumped onto his back. Clawing out patches of fur. He then rolled onto his back and I jumped off just ontime to not get flatten and the wolf yelled retreat retreat and he ran out with the rest of the tribe. I thought I just fought the leader and I felt terrible. I felt a stinging coming from my ear and my right paw was bleeding and I wrenched a claw. I felt slightly light headed as well. I felt my body give out from underneath me and I felt the presence of my siblings helping me up. Are you ok asked Willow concern entering her eyes. I don't know I said through gasps I just found out that I fought off the leader. How do you know asked Ocean. Because he's the one that called retread. WIth that they both gasped at me. Then I saw Moonlight walk up to us and looked at me more closely. He called Shard and helped me and my siblings to the healers den. When I reached one of the nest I fell into it and groaned. Shard entered my vision and started to put cobwebs on the worst of my wounds and some other unknown herbs as well. One looked like marigold but I thought. When he finished me he moved to my siblings. Moonlight came up to me and asked calmly Do you know who you fought?  I think it was the leader I said cause he called the tribe off. Moonlight nodded and said his name is Bear and you've done well, have you started battle training yet. I shook my head and replied my father taught us a few moves for safety and I practiced and experimented with the moves. Moonlight said well done and licked my head get some rest you and your siblings are off tomorrow till your injuries heal. I nodded my thanks and felt blackness slowly enclose me shielding me from pain till tomorrow.
