Chapter 11: New Apprenticeships and Bitter Emotions

Oceans POV

I woke up from the sunlight shining through the apprentice den walls. I see Gold still asleep and Star already awake and washing her fur. I get up and stretch my stiff limbs and go outside to see the sun rising and my siblings at the fresh kill pill. I walk over to them. But before I could I heard Willow say I wonder what Ocean will do with Flame today she said bitterly. Ya and everyone already loves him while we have to work for it spat Smokey. I turned and walked over to Fire who just left the warriors den and asked" what are we doing today? We are going to do hunting practice together then at sun high we are going to see Simmers pups become apprenticed. OK I said as we walked through the barrier. I still felt worried about my siblings feeling but I pushed it out of my mind for now till later. OK Ocean Fire said breaking my train of thoughts. This is the correct hunting crouch he said getting down with his hackles raised and I smelled mouse and got into the similar crouch. I used my nose to pinpoint the mouse and when I see it in my sight I pounced and I knew from are fathers teachings to kil it quickly with a swipe of a bite. So I bite its neck and brought it to me mentor that had a impressed features on his face. Well done he praised. I felt a glow of pride then thought that my siblings will hate me more. Lets go and see what else we can catch. OK I said half exited as we walked through the forest.

By sun high I caught three mice and a Dove. While Fire caught four mice and a rabbit. Come on we don't want to be late for the apprenticeships he said racing through the forest and I raced after him. When we walk through the barrier I see my siblings glaring at me when they see my catch. I walk to the fresh kill pile and put it on it. Then and sat with Gold waiting for the apprenticeship to start. I see Simmer and her three pups walk out of the nursery their furs glittering in the sunlight. There eyes show how excited the are even though they are walking calmly. When they sit down next to their mother I see Moonlight go on top of his branch. These three pups have grown in the six moons of age and can talk walk and do what they need themselves so today they will be apprentices he yowls. The tribe cheers at his words. Snow he said jumping down. I now see that she has a white coat and green eyes. You are ready to become an apprentice and you said you want to go down the path as a healer. Snow raises her head proudly and said I do. She licks his shoulder in respect and walked over to Shard. Bramble he said you have reached the age that you can eat and fend for yourself. Do you want to go to the path of a warrior. I do he said, Then Lava you are ready to take on your first apprentice teach him all the skills he needs to know Moonlight said as Bramble walked to his mentors side. Honey Moonlight continued do you want to continue the path of a warrior for the tribe and protect the tribe at the cost of your life. I do she said her amber eyes shining. Then Pitch your ready for your next apprentice I expect you to teach her everything she needs to know for the tribe. Pitch bowed his head in respect. The tribe started chanting their names so I joined in and chanted Snow, Bramble, Honey, Snow, Bramble, Honey. 

After the apprenticeship I went over to the fresh kill pile and grabbed a rabbit and sat under the tree by the apprentice den. Hey Gold said walking over to me. Hey I replied. I see your siblings are giving you the cold shoulder. Ya I sighed. She sat next to me and we shared our fresh kill together and I forget my troublesome thoughts for the time being as I feel that familiar glow in my chest.
