"Why me!" he cried,
"Shh, it's ok Benji, shh." his mom ran her fingers through his hair,
"Benji?" Brit crawled over to him on the bed, "Are you ok?" Benji could only shake his head no. "It's ok Benji." she crawled under his arms which were wrapped around his mom, and sat on his lap. She hugged him tightly around the waist.
"Benji, is it ok if I lift you into a wheelchair to get to the car?" his mom asked,
"I guess." he whimpered. She moved the crutches so she had some room. Then picked up Brit, Brit fought at first but let in. Then his mom lifted him up like a baby and put him in a nearby wheelchair. Brit then jumped back into his lap once he was sat down, he held her close. "How long will he be gone, Mom?" Benji asked in a raspy voice,
"2 years." she whispered, Benji hugged Brit tighter if that was even possible and buried his head into her shoulder. "I'm sorry Benj but he will also have a court session (idk what it is called) sometime next month that we will have to attend."
"Oh, ok." he mumbled. His mom sat his backpack full of clothes on the back of his chair and his bag full of his everyday things slung on her back. Brit was holding his crutches in her lap. She thanked Doctor Hanna and Nurse Kate again and exited the room. They had a very awkward elevator ride, checked Benji out of the hospital and off to the car. He limped into the car, the crutches and two bags were thrown into the back. He sat in the passenger seat and Brit sat in the back on her iPad. "Is it ok if I sleep?" Benji asked his mom,
"Sure sweetie, go ahead." his mom smiled brightly at him. He fell asleep before they ever left the parking lot. Once they got home Benji grabbed his bags and crutches and went straight to his room.
