His mom cried harder. Brit screamed and cried in Benji's arms. Benji? Benji was numb. He didn't move or say anything. He felt tears running down his face, never bothered to wipe them off. Then darkness hit his eyes.

"...enji? Benji?" he heard his mom's soft voice, he groggily opened his eyes. He saw his sister sitting at the end of his bed. His mom was holding his hand for dear life, still crying, she was sitting in the same chair as before. Then there were the two doctors who were talking by the door with another doctor who he never met.

"Mom?" he whispered barely even heard,

"Hey sweety, how are you feeling?" she brushed his bangs out of his face and rubbed his forehead gently with her thumb.

"I've been better." he said a bit louder, but still very quiet. He tried to get up but when he started to get up the room started to spin. He feel back to the bed with a groan,

"Hey don't push yourself." the doctor that Benji hasn't seen before came to the edge of the bed.

"Thanks for telling me." Benji said obviously annoyed,

Ignoring the previous statement, the doctor asked, "What do you remember last?"

He thought for a minute,

"Brit crying in my arms. I think?" he said, Brit jumped in his arms again.

"Don't you dare scare me like that ever again!" Brit cried, Benji hugged her, he pushed his face into her shoulder.

"Do you remember what you have?" one of the other doctors asked, he thought again, everyone waiting for an answer.

"No sorry." He said,

"That's fine, do you want me to tell you?" he asked, Benji nodded, "You have cancer Benji." Brit winced, his mom lowered her head. Benji stared at the doctor in disbelief tears fell off his face.

"Wh- what?" only Brit could hear him, he hugged Brit and cried in her shoulder, she was now crying too. "What's going to happen to me?" Benji asked, "Will I be able to still play basketball?" Benji rambled,

"Wow, now calm down. It's slowly spreading, it's starting in your right leg and has moved to your hip and soon will hit a vital organ."

"Wait! NO!" Benji cried, he knew what that meant. Amputation.

"I'm so sorry Benj." his mom cried,

"Will I still be able to play?" Ben has played basketball since he could remember without basketball he wouldn't be the same,

"Maybe, it depends." the other doctor said, this is where Benji broke. He started to full blown sobbing, he couldn't stop. No basketball? What would he do!

"I haven't formerly introduced myself," the one that was unfamiliar to Benji said, "I'm Doctor Hanna, and this is Doctor Ben, and Doctor Sam." she pointed to the two doctors in the corner, completely ignoring the trembling kid in front of her.

"Please leave, let us be alone right now." his mom said comforting her son, he was shaking and sobbing into his mom and Brit.

"Sure." She and the other doctors walked out waiting outside the door. "That poor kid." she mumbled to herself, the other doctors nodded in agreement,

"Benji, calm down." his mom brushed through his hair,

"What-what would I do without basketball! I need it!" he semi shouted, "The team needs me." Benji was now whispering,

"We'll figure something out, ok?" Brit said comforting, Benji gripped harder on Brit,

"O-ok." Benji mumbled into Brit's shoulder, Benji coughed, and melted into Brits and his mom's embrace. "Mom?" Benji asked softly,

"Ya hunny?"

"My leg hurts." he cried,

"That's normal sweety." his mom's voice was sad,

"Do you want me to get a doctor?" Brit asked,

"No, I'm fine. I'm tired though." Benji yawned,

"Ok, you should get some sleep." his mom gently helped him lay down, Brit snuggled against his chest. Scared to let go.
