(a week later)

It's been a week since Benji's breakdown. He's gotten back into the groove of basketball and is getting really good at it again.

But today was the day that Benji had an appointment to figure out if he was completely cancer-free.

It was a Friday, Benji, and Cal, who begged to go, left early from basketball practice. Jake gladly let them leave early. Benji's mom was driving, Benji was in the back with Cal next to him, and Brit in the back on her iPad.

Benji and Cal were holding hands. Benji was super nervous, his left leg bouncing up and down constantly. He was looking at the passing tree lines and cars. Cal was rubbing his thumb against Benji's knuckles soothing Benji slightly, he was also scrolling through Instagram occasionally liking a photo.

After a 30 minute drive to the hospital, all walked into the room. Benji, Cal, and Brit all took a seat, Brit on Benji's lap. Mary signed them in after she did that she joined the kids. After 7 minutes of knee bouncing and distracting himself the best he could they got called back to a small room.

Benji, with the help of Cal, sat on the bed. While Cal sat next to Benji for moral support, Brit and Mary sat right next to them, Mary held Benji's hand tightly. Cal lovingly rubbed Benji's back. Soon, Doctor Hannah walked in.

"Well, Benji, nice to see you again. Hopefully for the last time." she smiled at him while checking his chart. He shyly smiled back. Nurse Kate walked in with a tray of needles for blood like last time. Benji noticeably tensed up,

"I remember from last time that you don't like needles, so I'll make this quick as possible." Nurse Kate smiled her signature smile,

Nurse Kate prepped his arm by wiping it down with a disinfectant wipe. Benji squeezed his mom's hand tightly, Cal kissed Benji's head lovingly. Cal whispered encouraging words into his ear.
